Fantastic Sherry Bomb, possibly one of the best of this series!

Dried fruits; raisin, fig, dates but also fresh greengages, apple and pineapple, cocoa-dusted cherries, green oak wood and toffee.
    • Taste
Fruity, cherry lips sweeties, cranberry, blackcurrant, cherry, raisin, acacia honey, demerara sugar, chocolate-coated toffee, red apples, soft cinnamon spice and green oak wood.
    • Finish
Long, sweet dried fruits and freshly-sawn oak timber or pencil shavings.

But all my expectations for this whisky were not only met, but exceeded in all respects. By type, he is already in the direction of an A'bunadh or Glenfarclas 105, but I find him in a direct comparison much more complex and complex, everything is wonderfully structured. Again and again looking for weak spots, I could not find any. At most in the price based on the age of the whiskys - there seem to be over 100 euros exaggerated. But for what you get offered here, no penny is wasted.
    • Nose
Sweet, fat and fruity are the first impressions. Thickened grapes and dark, viscous syrup from sugar beet smell from the glass and make for an irresistible sweet-spicy start. Pickled dates in honey and orange slices sprinkled with cane sugar and flambé let the saliva flow. It's getting darker and spicier, damp tobacco leaves and scuffed bare leather with those harsh notes that get in your nose when you put on an old ragged and sweaty leather jacket - superb. Sweet aromatic raisins and lots of dried fruit. Even slightly damp oak wood is there and brings nice scratchy, roasted roasted aromas. Alcohol does not sting your nose once.
    • Taste
Despite the almost 60% no burning or excessive sharpness, but the flavors are driven from the beginning with a fabulous force. Juicy prunes peppered with cinnamon and cloves, plus the spicy sugar beet syrup and dark Demerara sugar. And then oak and more oak. Orange peel and tannins tingle on the tongue, in combination with the dark caramelized sugar of a crème brûlée open up real chasms of aromas. I can only shake my head in disbelief and ask myself how to get something like this with such young whiskys. Glengoyne is known for the care taken in selecting the barrels and they must have some very extraordinary and lively barrels in their stores. And nice that they make them so sympathetic to the masses, without any hype crap and stupid stories. Wow, a dram addictive.
    • Finish
Quite short to medium long, but again with full force spicy and sweet, with many dark typical sherry aromas and old oak wood. Drying disappears, the sweetness and especially beautiful tart spices such as cinnamon and cloves and a hint of deep black liquorice sound the longest after warming.

    The famous teapot dram..
Well if Glengoyne gave me this as employee, I certainly would be a little disappointed. It’s very decently matured and complex. But fair enough it’s also rather young. To young. Therefore it is a little in between being great and being far from ready yet. I don’t think it is bad stuff but I also don’t think it is worth the price and finally I do think there is an clear off note in it.
    • Nose
Initially this is remarkable good nosing despite of the almost 60%. Red Apples, cherries, grapefruits, cigars, burned sugar. There are still some sweet malty notes to be noticed after a while, but there is also a less pleasant rather faint, fermenting kind of smell to it. That’s a pitty. It reveales that this is rather young stuff. I would definitely call this faint, fermenting smell an off note. Therefore I have to respectfully disagree with other reviews bellow.
    • Taste
Taste is very warm and alcoholic without water. It is also rather soft and full flavored. But don’t be shy on the water though. With water it gets more creamy and very tastefull. There are, again, definitely young, malty aroma’s to be found. Pleasant as well as unpleasant. Also chocolate and dark red fruits.
    • Finish
Finish is long. It’s an interesting play between young malty influences and stronger, more mature aroma’s of the casks. But again the young part dominates my palate. Especially at the very end that faint off note (as I call it) stays with me longer than I want to.

Powerful sherry malt, rich in intense aromas. I can only be amazed at what you got here in a rather younger whisky, even if you notice that it is not like a> 20 year old malt. Definitely tolerates some water, then it opens wonderfully and there is a lot to discover.

Compared to Batch 7, which may look a little sweeter / fruity and more set, Batch 6 is a bit more spicy / woody and fresher. Both have their nuances in their nuances, but the differences are quite small.

intense sherry; Dried fruit; dark and fruity; oranges; raisins; dates; cherries; caramelized sugar; spices; some leather and sweet tobacco; spicy woody oak notes; with water it opens up nicely on the fruity side
    • Taste
      91 91
powerful; sweet sherry; dark red fruits; cherries; raisins; dates; caramelized sugar; some cinnamon; dark chocolate; with a sparkling, spicy oak; tolerates water - then the slight sharpness gives way to the great fruitiness and the beautiful oak flavor remains in the background
    • Finish
      90 90
medium to long; spicy; Dried fruit; raisins; dark chocolate; Cinnamon; slightly tart oak

Just a Sherry bomb. dark red fruits, berries, dried apricots, spicy, a hint of oak, traces of nuts, some chocolate in there as well. the finish is really long lasting. very balanced malt, the Aromas mingle quite nicely and there is a constant change between sweet and spicey. that is some of the best Sherry malts I had in the recent years!

Shortbread, orange marmelade, sweet-sour, quince and caraway seed, there is always a light sour touch that reminds me on a spicial kind of ham and the crust of a roasted pork
After tasting: shortbread again, ham and salted potatoes
With one drop of water: its quite same but a little bit more intensive and sweeter, anise
    • Taste

Sweetness of candies, a minimum of 50 fruits hit me, probably kiwi? Yeah its kiwi; lemon candie,
    • Finish
      89 89
Citrus, astringent, waxy, tar, a long finish

Er no, not for me, it's ok but the high average score flatters this one,
It does have a nice sweetness but I don`t get alot from this one.
    Will try it again soon
