Whisky Reviews for Craigellachie 2008 BSW

This Craigellachie is not an "ultra dark Sherry Monster" (as the name might suggest), but it presents itself as a really delicious and harmonious sherry malt. Especially the full chocolate and pastry / grain notes in combination with the fresh leather notes I really like. Especially in view of the price-performance ratio, this malt is definitely recommended for fans of strong-spicy but not over-sherry whiskys.
    • Nose
Significant but no extreme "super dark" sherry aromas flow directly to me when pouring. And so, the first nose also shows a nice combination of dark chocolate, some coffee, sticky-sweet dates and figs and a pleasant fresh leather note. Over time, the chocolate flavors become more intense and are complemented by interesting pastry and cereal notes. Thus, the Craigellachie reminds me of a mixture of chocolate cake and black bread with Nutella.
    • Taste
Here dominates clearly the spicy-chocolate oak, which harmonizes wonderfully with the pastry and cereal notes from the Nosing and provides just the right spice and intensity for my taste. But also dried fruits à la Glenfarclas (raisins, apricots) and nut flavors show up.
    • Finish
Again, the chocolate and the pleasantly spicy oak set the tone, which now spread additional espresso flavors in the mouth. In the end, the pastry and cereal notes remain relatively long in the mouth and call for another sip.

Neat young Sherrybrobmbchen. I like it very well and for the 70-75 € issue price really ok.

It blows to a direct dark red, totally fruity, slightly nutty, Neapolitans, the often quoted raisins, neat sherry, but in no case overloaded, overall very creamy, alcohol well integrated, the sherry is more in the dry direction, tannins, chocolate, warm cocoa. and in the background a minty freshness, I like it very much

starts lighter than expected, then quite dry, bittersweet, as if you had cocoa powder in your mouth, raisins, some oak, some salt, hazelnuts, a breeze slightly sourish sweetness lies over it
    • Finish
      87 87
very dry finish, slightly furry, nuts on the palate, dark chocolate, long and warming finish "
