Strong, powerful, fruity. Pretty some chocolate in the taste. Very pleasant whisky.

Very fruity, ripe fruits, pear, citrus. Some raisins as well, but also warm vanillacake. Pretty intense nose without too much alcohol.
    • Taste
      87 87
Full taste, strong, pepper. Fruity and sweet, some raisins, honey. Also some notes of chocolate. With some drops of water even more chocolate.
    • Finish
      87 87
Still powerful, raisins, some peach, red fruits. Pretty long, also a slight hint of tobacco. Also some milkchocolate.

This takes a while and some water to reveal itself, poor this when you have some time to give it and you will be rewarded. A classical sherry nose with dried fruits is followed by a palate which adds a few layers beyond this, adding leather and tropical fruits. The finish is the weakest part where you notice the oak a bit too much and you realize why it had to bottled now. Still, a well worthwhile dram.

Nose: The nose is very full and voluminous right at the beginning. The alcohol is very well integrated. The scarcely 60% Vol. One hardly notices in the nose. From the glass ostensibly fully ripe bright fruits. Maybe even overripe pear over which just a lemon was also expressed. In addition, intense sweetness of raisins, which then highlight the dark side of the malts. For this I think of buttery cake dough. Overall solid, but no complexity bomb. Water helps the malt to open up, significantly increasing its complexity. I now find ripe apples, maybe even apple strudel. Dark chocolate is spreading.

Taste: On the tongue, the Malt unfolds its full power and pushes forward with powerful steam. However, the flavors hide behind the strong alcohol content, so the malt dilute first. Very good with water. Sweet and full on the tongue. A pleasant oiliness is spreading. I think pastries, powdered sugar, apple strudel again with a decent hand full of raisins in it, a few bitter-spicy notes fit great in the sweetness. I can hardly find the acidity of the nose here anymore.

Finish: Medium and intensely warming, honey sweetness, dark chocolate and raisins.

Conclusion: This malt benefits enormously from the addition of water. While your nose is easy to handle without water, there's nothing in the mouth without water. He leaves a lot of room to experiment, because of the 59.9% Vol. A lot of dilution reserve is there. I added about 1.5 teaspoons of water from 3cl. It is interesting that the nose has an acidity reminiscent of lemon, which has apparently disappeared in the mouth. Overall a malt that wants to be explored, with which one should spend some time. But then you will be rewarded.
