    • Nose

Peaty, but not immensely. A bit dirty. Caramel. Hardly fruity, a bit of fig maybe.
    • Taste
      85 85
Much more peat and now also sweet lime, gingerbread and apple. Quite hot as well.
    • Finish
      84 84
      Peat, dark chocolate and coffee.

This shows an obvious aroma of peat & typical ex-bourbon barrel aromas.

The palate is an explosive punch of peat, vanilla, and tropical fruit (bananas).

A little bit more complexity on the nose would have given this a higher score. Great stuff.

That's exactly why I'm letting the whisky go. You know the distillery and think, "There's nothing going to get out of it anyway!"
Then you sip it and think again: "Nah ... that can not be!"
For me personally an incredibly good whisky!
    • Nose

      Sweet, smoky, spicy ...
    • Taste
      92 92
Toasted licorice and charred herb garden ...
And above all lies this beguiling sweetness. What a spectacle !!
    • Finish
      87 87
Dry ... ... vigorously sweet and smoky ...
      Lovely !!

    SMWS notes:

The pale, platinum, golden wine colour of a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand was followed a citrus aroma of kaffir limes and grapefruits but both heavily scorched over a peat fire. The taste is just like ‘a torch light procession marching down your throat’, but at the same time as intensely sweet as teriyaki tuna and kale chips dressed with malt vinegar. Water added the scent of burning rosemary and thyme, muscle rub, blowing up a lilo and a full cigar ashtray. On the palate now like salmon fillets grilled over burning tyres and seasoned, in the finish, with Finnish tar syrup.
