A very good whisky with a steep profile and excellent balance. Possibly one of the best in its price range
    • Nose
      89 89
Very cool classic slightly dry sherry nose. Dried fruits, tobacco, leather, a pinch of cocoa, light sourness
    • Taste
      90 90
Oily, dense. Bitter chocolate, coffee, astringent berries, caramel.
    • Finish
      90 90
      Long, astringent. Wood, spices

Yay, that can be anything again. Relatively young and drowned in sherry, pleasant to drink, tasty and spectacularly unspectacular.

    Notes from a blind tasting.
    • Nose
      85 85
Rich sherry and oak straight out of the pour, oloroso, although that's a bit early to say on the nose. After a few moments of prunes, but overall he withdraws for now. And even now I wouldn't give a tip in the direction of Oloroso anymore, much sweeter than at the beginning. After a good hour of downtime, calm has returned, a calm that takes you straight back to the beginning. Tobacco fermentation in an old vaulted cellar, observed from a leather armchair. In short: dry sherry and wood (cask acid). The addition of heat initially causes a significantly increased acid level, furniture polish. Occasionally a few puffs, reminiscent of prunes again. Very late (and very warm) you will find a dark sweet caramel broth with brandy.
    • Taste
      84 84
A different picture emerges in the mouth. The sweetness is significant, dark honey mainly before cask acidity and menthol become more evident towards the back, was probably PX after all. However, not as bappy as some modern wet finishes would be. The alcohol sets in somewhat later and powerfully. There are no special features. In the second sip, the acidity is already more prominent, the tannins become a little clearer, but the acidity is most pronounced right at the end.
    • Finish
      84 84
It dries on the finish, a warming in the chest area is clearly perceptible, it doesn't get bitter and is over pretty quickly. Here, too, the second sip is significantly more acidic, this time it lasts a little longer.

a hammer sherry malt, I liked it very much
    it is complex, multilayered
    it takes time
    be careful with water
    • Nose
Sherry really cool, slightly raisins become more, raspberry, blackberry, light leather, mini polish, light tobacco, light oak, a little sweetness, dark caramel, spicy, vanilla is coming
with water: more vanilla, slightly flowery

from 1920s: Sherry really great, blackberry effervescent tablet, Eicht goes well, a fresh note
with water: sherry (in a different way), spicy, milk chocolate, green herbs, sweet simple candy
    • Taste
      soft, oily, creamy, almost sticks
Full of sherry !!, raisins, red berries, spicy, chocolate ~ 70%

with water: silky, oak, mini rubber
    • Finish
      medium to long
      Sherry, spicy, toasted aromas

      with water: tart

      strenuous on the tongue

    Awesome part.
    • Nose
      Color: sunset

Nose: damn it .. awesome! Great nose. Sweet figs, dates, furniture polish, varnish and paint

Nose conclusion: Nose: Solvent, we are in the shoemaker's workshop, a
Thought of grain comes up. Label gently malt whisky and now it is
to guess some malt and grain under the sherry. Again the
Cherry and I imagine I can smell a fully ripe pear.
    • Taste
Tobacco, some sweet cough syrup, again
Wick cherry candy .... It comes out very mild
already on the palate, in the middle part it breaks down and gets something
briefly a slightly alcoholic note. Then he catches up and builds
neat volume, gets very light smoked oak notes and
overall seems heavier and more sedate than barrel 244
    • Finish
      Rather long.

Ultra clean Oloroso bomb with a high-enough age to make it genuinely interesting. Certainly doesn't display many distinguishable distillate characteristics, but who needs that when everything else works so well? The nose alone comes close to the 90-point-mark. Head to head with WID 112536, while in direct comparison, WID 119429 still seems a tiny bit better to me personally.

  12. 11insomnium scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

A bit cautious at the beginning, but with a little water and oxygen comes the intensity. Without a direct comparison, a bit weaker than the comparable barrel no. 218.
    • Nose
Flowery and sweet syrup with a lot of fruitiness, red berries, spicy, dark dried fruits, oak
    • Taste
Lots of sweet, intense, dark dried fruit, mulled wine, very spicy and slightly dry oak
    • Finish
      Brown sugar and oak

  13. LeChiffre scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

An intense sherry malt that is overall without any missing notes. Very clear, modern sherry profile, which also makes it interchangeable and limitedly exciting. From that a delicious bottling anyway. Easy to drink even without water.
    • Nose
      88 88
intense sherry; sweet and spicy; Dried fruits; Raisins; Plums; caramelized brown sugar; some vanilla; dark chocolate; noticeably woody oak spice in the background
    • Taste
      88 88
sweet and spicy; dark fruits; Plums; a hint of orange; Brown sugar; dark chocolate; slightly nutty; woody oak spice - slightly peppery
    • Finish
      87 87
becoming dry; Dried fruits; tart, spicy oak without becoming noticeably bitter

    • Nose
      Colour:
      Dark amber

      Nose:
Begins with dates and sweet figs. Then follows moist leather, liquorice and some furniture polish. Elderberry syrup, cherries and a very pleasant tobacco note. With some time in the glass, sour, dark berries get through nicely. The colleague has now got but also a cheesy touch. But somehow great fits. In the background is always a flag smoke, which makes this great nose very complex and complete.
    • Taste
Earthy entrance. Something mineral even. But full, intense and creamy. A pleasant pinch of pepper dries immediately. Followed by plum jam, tart tobacco and dark chocolate with marzipan. Juicy sour cherries and some elderberry taste.
    • Finish
Long, full and simply syrupy. Gorgeous! A touch of paint, something fresh and slightly cool. Before it runs out with espresso.

  16. Rhönräuber scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
sherry, marzipan, red fruit compote with sweet vanilla sauce
    • Taste
mulled wine, strawberry punch, orange, subtle oak
    • Finish
mulled wine sweets, dark-baked vanilla kipferl, oak, (medium) long.
