    Instead of dominating the spirit, the Château Cissac cask and the Benromach profile work really well together in this iteration. My favourite of the Wood Finish Series so far.
    • Nose
      Classic Benromach peat smoke and sweetness, with a barbecue-esque meatiness, accompanied by blueberries, plums and dark cherries. There's some soft notes of stewed pears in the background. Best of all—no sulphur at all. Excellent!
    • Taste
      A whiff of pepper with lingering smoke and soot, as well as fried bacon and milk chocolate. Not very fruity, yet there's a hint of maraschino cherries here.
    • Finish
      Lingering barbecue smoke, a touch of peat and some charred orange peel.

    A hammer whisky from Benromach! The distillery character comes through well and the red wine finish has produced great aromas. Tip: The whisky can definitely take a good dose of oxygen in the bottle for a long time.

      Citrus fruits, light smoke, nice sweetness, vanilla, fresh fruits, spicy, very slightly woody, slightly sweet chocolate, red fruits as light as a feather, spices and darker fruits appear over time
    • Taste
      86 86
      Chocolate, spicy, dark fruits, citrus, oak wood, tart, slightly bitter, subtle smoke, fresh red fruits
    • Finish
      87 87
      Smoky, malty, sweet, spicy, minimally tart, you can guess hints of dry red wine, very long, woody

    A nice bottling of the Wood Finish series from Benromach. The different barrels complement each other very well. He is very mature for his age, but also quite youthfully wild on the tongue.

    • Nose
      A nice blend of bourbon and wine flavors. First come sweet, fresh citrus fruits like oranges and tangerines and caramel. As if a switch is flipped after a few seconds, the aroma becomes noticeably heavier. The wine brings some acidity, as well as black currants, blackberries and wine gums. A slightly cooling peat smoke comes through. The oak of the red wine barrels brings spicy notes of toasted sourdough bread and dark chocolate.
    • Taste
      It starts with fruity and sweet bourbon aromas of citrus fruits, peaches, caramel and vanilla, as well as light floral notes. In addition, there is a clear chili heat with tingling on the tip of the tongue. Similar to the nose, the mouthfeel then changes towards dark, sour berries and spicy oak notes. These are complemented by almond biscuits and dark chocolate.
    • Finish
      The mouthfeel starts all over again. First the finish is sweet and fruity, then comes the oak with dark chocolate and peat smoke. The whole thing is pleasantly long and warming. The smoke and fruit remain at the end.

    The aroma on nose is subtle but clean. Pleasant palate, wood spice carried from palate to finish. Finish feels young and spicy.

    For about 8 years, Benromach has created an intense malt with a wine barrel finish!
    Compared to the previous year (WB-ID 101173) this is a bit rougher, not so finely tuned and sometimes slightly alcoholic!
    [Color] = gold;
    • Nose
      fruity (citrus fruits, raspberries), sweet, vinous, here alcohol on the nose; little smoke;
    • Taste
      powerful, lightly burning start, oily, sweet, heavy, red wine (bitter), no smoke (?), spices, really spicy oak;
    • Finish
      medium length, intense, now smoke, spice, oak again;
