Whisky Reviews for Lochside 1979 SS

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.62 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

A good middle-aged sherry mole, the barrel delicately treated the base, harmoniously merging and enriching the picture as a whole, the sherry derivatives in sufficient quantity, but do not clog the whole space, leaving room for both the oak and the base; all components are equally good, deep and rich.
    • Nose
Open, calm, varnished wood, lemon peel, polish, dried fruits - dried apricots, raisins; light metallic notes, red orange, raw potatoes, daikon, wet cardboard, mineral tones - flint, grindstone; nectarine, pear, lemonade Duchesse.
    • Taste
Saturated, dried fruit and wood, bitter spicy oak, lacquer, a wave of red pepper, orange and grapefruit peel, sweetness of dried fruits, jam from apricots and peaches, a little burnt caramel.
    • Finish
Continuation of taste, lacquer, wood, black pepper and grapefruit crust, dried fruit, sweetness of homemade pasta from dried apricots and pears, light notes of lemon in sweet tea, barely perceptible tones of burnt biscuits and leavened wort, bitterness of dark beer.

  2. Dede scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

Nose superbly fruity, very exotic (a lot of pineapple) but also vanilla and greedy. We would eat !

The palate is in keeping, even better with a little water, and and the long finish, with a delectable pina colada aftertaste. An excellent Lochside.

  3. Furtia scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur
