Cake or death! But I don't want to die yet ...

In the nose it was actually cake, and very nice tropical fruits, pineapple, mango, kiwi, brown sugar. Similar to sherry but drier. Pear compote, a little cinnamon. The alcohol is well integrated, soft, creamy, and looks older than 12 years. Vanilla sugar and french toast are also added. An excellent nose!
Less round in the mouth, almost a little flat? That's weird ... Oily, very dry, slightly salty. The whole sweetness is gone. Fruits also less, it is tart and more alcoholic. Cake is also less there. That's a bit disappointing after the great nose.
With a little water the nose stays the same, but the taste gets a little more volume. Tropical fruits and bitter oak, dry wine, a little vanilla. Still slightly stinging and alcoholic. The finish is short and peppery, tart and slightly bitter. Deified fruits, oily and salty.

Mixed painters who unfortunately cannot maintain the level of the nose.

N-91, T-85, F-84, a total of 87 points, which seems rather high when you look at the taste, but the nose was sharp.

    SMWS notes:

The panel found the nose to be immediately liqueur-ish in texture. Notes of mandarin oil, runny honey, flambeed banana and aged calvados. Thyme infused pears, treacle sponge, blood orange and ripe vine tomatoes in a warm greenhouse. With water the nose opened up beautifully. Butterscotch, farmyard, greengage jam, hessian and toasted mustard seed all emerged. The palate was wonderfully juicy and oily in texture. We found notes of brown sugar and cinnamon bread, pecan pie, hot cross buns and cocktail bitters. A little reduction brought creamy vanilla fudge, black forrest gateaux and a gamey note of roast duck. After 10 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead this was transferred to a 1st fill charred red wine barrique.
