A Laddie on sherry, this could be great. The initial release price couldn't convince me to blindly buy a bottle or two, so I got hold of a sample. Maybe that will convince me to chase one (for unmistakably a lot more money though). On the nose; alright, damn that is good. Classic sherry nose on the earthy/farmy side of the spectrum. Orange, raisin, apple compote, overripe and almost rotten banana, Belgian chocolate, caramel, mokka, tobacco, cigar box, fake leather, coffee beans, something damp/mushroomy and a touch of wood glue. So far, very good.
In the mouth; less complexity, 'cleaner', but still a sherry monster. How soft it is surprises me for 59%. Orange, raisin, grapefruit, citrus zest, cinnamon, dark chocolate, salted caramel, espresso, tobacco, leather and some grain in the background. A bit brackish even.
Finish is quite a surprise. A load of butterscotch and some tiramisu!

A very good pick by the Whiskybase guys. Lots of cask influence, maybe a bit too much, but when it's good, it's good. The Bruichladdich spirit can handle it well. Still not so sure if I'd hunt down a bottle but I wish I had a wee bit more to sample..

    Based on a sample.

A nice Laddie, but the sherry cask overpowers pretty much all of the Bruichladddich characteristics. Up till the end of mid-palate and the finish where it reveals some farmy notes. It’s slightly sulphuric in the finish where nose and palate are really tasty, but just a bit too GlenSherry’ish in my opinion.
