Fill level just below top of label.

Stronger than what we know as 40%, as most of these old 40%ers are..

Fairly ubiquitous. Simple and one dimensional. Artificial orange, polish, spice, cardboard. Palate is the most interesting, viscous, honeyed, grandpas basement… Lots of cardboard and dust as well. Finish is long, drying, simple and cardboardy. It’s not bad, but it’s also not great.

N- Just at a 40% at big offering on aroma and palate with the generous dose of old malty and woody nuttiness that are just amazing.  Earthy and full highland peat notes with sourish mango, underlay with soothing and greasy eucalyptus.

P- Generous run of bold and fat sweet malt with subtle salts and zesty citrus settling in well for a mouth-watering effect. Compote of tropical fruits overtones, perhaps vastly mask by the fore flavours,  but no complaint, the weighty malt is just simply delicious.

F- Medium, gently nutty and saline notes with scents of old malt barn, layer of earthiness linger on. Excellent starts to my first Glenlochy.

Interesting Glenlochy because it's quite young, distilled in 1968 but  bottled in the mid 1980's, so around 15 to 17 years of age.
    • Nose
Starts with some austerity. Metalic sharpness. Later more on dusty furniture and old books. Waxed orange skins. Vanilla pods. Nutiness as well. Smoke at the background.
    • Taste
Lots of zestiness. Lemon and lime. Also honeyed apples. Pine  wood. Later on more sweetness of butterscotch and toffee. Coffee beans as well. It's al very creamy.
    • Finish
Hot and spicy. Pepper. A litte linger and cloves. Hints of burnt wood. Quite dry.
