Whisky Reviews for Strathisla 25-year-old GM

- To be honest I was was quite worried after the nose that this one would be faulty (sulphur etc.), but the nose improved - it just needs air. On the palate there is a wide and mild variety of fruits which is good. Overall it's very drinkable and enjoyable - at least it's definitely not faulty like the other Strathisla 25yo in the rectangular bottle ( https://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/24512/strathisla-25-year-old ).
Like sitting on a new leather couch or being in a shoe shop, honey, some green fruits, probably apples or pears, later on hints of wood
Very oily, smooth, honey, fruity, cantaloupe, citrus fruits, oranges, lemons, pinepapples, hints of toffee, milk chocolate
Medium long, warm, smooth
Good to great nose. A slightly tame palate and finish but that has to be expected at 40%.
Old and new furniture at the same time. A basket of freshly picked green apples plus the tree and the leaves. Some saw dust and some glue. now grated apple. A little bit weird to smell all these apple notes in a Sherry matured Whisky. Burnt sugar in the background with a hint of toffee. Maybe roasted coffee beans in the distance.
Chocolate is the first thing that comes to mind. Some caramel is there. Brandy-ish/cognacy. A little gravy. A tiny bit floral, almost perfumy but in a good way. No in your face flavours, you really have to dig them out.
Short to medium. On caramel mostly. Slightly herbal and sirupy.
- Pretty decent stuff.
Caramel, toffee, sherry and slight notes of peat?
There is also something nutty like chopped almonds.
Smooth and the caramel is there again mixed in with a little banana and vanilla.
Medium long and quite sweet.
- This would be the bottling from the 90`s and should have a laser printed code from G&M like ID/BLA
