To be honest I was was quite worried after the nose that this one would be faulty (sulphur etc.), but the nose improved - it just needs air. On the palate there is a wide and mild variety of fruits which is good. Overall it's very drinkable and enjoyable - at least it's definitely not faulty like the other Strathisla 25yo in the rectangular bottle ( https://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/24512/strathisla-25-year-old ).
    • Nose
Like sitting on a new leather couch or being in a shoe shop, honey, some green fruits, probably apples or pears, later on hints of wood
    • Taste
Very oily, smooth, honey, fruity, cantaloupe, citrus fruits, oranges, lemons, pinepapples, hints of toffee, milk chocolate
    • Finish
      Medium long, warm, smooth

    sample.

Good to great  nose. A slightly tame palate and finish but that has to be expected at 40%.
    • Nose
Old and new furniture at the same time. A basket of freshly picked green apples plus the tree and the leaves. Some saw dust and some glue. now grated apple. A little bit weird to smell all these apple notes in a Sherry matured Whisky. Burnt sugar in the background with a hint of toffee. Maybe roasted coffee beans in the distance.
    • Taste
Chocolate is the first thing that comes to mind. Some caramel is there. Brandy-ish/cognacy. A little gravy. A tiny bit floral, almost perfumy but in a good way. No in your face flavours, you really have to dig them out.
    • Finish
Short to medium. On caramel mostly. Slightly herbal and sirupy.

    Pretty decent stuff.
    • Nose
Caramel, toffee, sherry and slight notes of peat?

There is also something nutty like chopped almonds.
    • Taste
Smooth and the caramel is there again mixed in with a little banana and vanilla.
    • Finish
      Medium long and quite sweet.

This would be the bottling from the 90`s and should have a laser printed code from G&M like ID/BLA
