[March, 2019] A quick review of a sample...

....and I think new distilleries do themselves not a favour when releasing such immature stuff. I can understand they need cash but what they really need is a good reputation (at least in the long run). But given such paedophelic releases it will take a lot of effort and time to restore the brand image to a somewhat acceptable level in the future...
    • Nose
      82 82
The colour is pale straw and the nose offers a very sweet winey profile with some immature barley sugars and bitter notes of the wood (tannins). These aromas are not really integrated and somewhat fight each other, maybe because of their young age. This is a typical immature nose that is pimped (with the port finish) to be of interest but it is not.
    • Taste
      80 80
The taste is sugary-winey sweet and bitter from the woods, nothing else (even after chewing). Water releases some more aromas (hints of fruits) in the nose but turns the taste (even) flatter and (even) less interesting - I think I like the neat dram better.
    • Finish
      78 78
The initial mouthfeel is a little hot and a little bitter-astringent (tannins at work) but nothing else, hence not enjoyable. The finish is of medium length and dries out on bitter flavours and an astringent mouthfeel which is not to my liking either.

Soft, delicate, fine, young wood, fruity.

    Really good.

Nice stuff and not a bad buy at the price. A fruity-fresh-lively summer whiskey.
    • Nose
Fresh fruity, fragrant with a little hay, pear, lemon, canned pineapple, nectarine, ice candy and vanilla kipper. In the background a small touch of sea breeze. The alk is tickling a bit.
    • Taste
Light fruit (pear, peach) with fine spice, quite round, but it remains a harsh undertone. The Alk is noticeable, but does not bother big. Sweet, light-medium-weight. Something salty.
    • Finish
Start with peach and light fruits and then change to the apricot jam bomb! Medium length.
