Unfortunately again a "middle of the road" from Ireland. I did drink better whiskeys on stout barrel.
    • Nose
      79 79
Typical Irish: Aromas of freshly cut grass, fresh fruity and chocolate.
    • Taste
      76 76
Again fruit and creamy vanilla, the characteristics of the Stout just do not come through, a little hop and some oak. Really disappointing.
    • Finish
      78 78
The aftertaste is short and so refined that you can hardly discover anything. A bit spicy.

Blend of single Irish pot still and single grain whiskey. Triple distilled. Aged in refilled ex-bourbon casks. Finished in used whiskey casks seasoned with stout beer. Thick fast curved primary legs. Midsize slow straight secondary legs. The palate would benefit greatly from a higher ABV. Interesting experimental whiskey.
    • Nose
Cereal: hay, malt, grain, barley sugar. Spicy: metallic pot still note, dark chocolate, coffee, pepper. Sweet: chocolate, vanilla, caramel, confectionery. Winey: beer. Herbal: hops, fresh grass. Fruity: fresh fruit: pear, apple; citrus: tangerine. lime. Floral notes. Woody notes. Full body: interesting. Water turns up the confectionery notes.
    • Taste
Sweet: chocolate, caramel, confectionery. Nutty: cocoa. Herbal: hops. Fruity: fresh fruit: pear, apple; citrus, zest. Oily: creaminess. Spicy: dark chocolate, coffee, salted caramel. Cereal: malt. Winey: stout beer. Floral notes. Smooth: sippable. Does not take any water.

    • Nose
Sweet, creamy, milk chocolate. Then a bit of graininess characteristic of Grain Whiskey. Sweet coffee with milk. Slightly perceptible alcohol. Some toffee.
    • Taste
Sweetness, light creaminess, a little toffee, caramel. There is some spiciness. Coffee. Over time, oak becomes more noticeable.
    • Finish
Sweetness mixed with bitterness. There is toffee, caramel, but also dark chocolate, black coffee and oak. Traces of hops. Some spices. The coffee and oak bitterness remains the longest. Quite a long finish, pretty well covered with alcohol. A little more peppery with the second sip.

Initially it thought this was a marvelous whiskey: lovely golden syrup notes, a bitter edge from the stout barrel, and all for only £18 - what's not to like. But it didnt last... after a bit you realise its shallow and boring. Sadly it went into my homemade blend with some talisker 10 to pep it up.

      fresh fruits on the apple

sweet spices, sourdough, one side buttered, sweet, fine, sweet, then a little bitterness
the fruits are disparate, it is quite grassy too, on dry hay.
    • Finish
short, whiskey of thirst, to quench your thirst!
a little dry, fruits still on the apple
      a return a little toasted

    • Nose
      85 85
Nose quite fresh, apple, pear but also nice notes of cooked cake. Rather unexpected
    • Taste
      82 82
Pretty greedy, not a sherry but not stout. Too diluted, trace of toasted and a vegetal point.
    • Finish
      81 81
Medium, a little earthy, vegetal and roasted.
