This 19 year old Ledaig matured for 6 years in traditional oak barrels, then transferred to Sherry Oloroso barrels for 13 years in the summer of 2004.

It has a first nose on burnt wood, on an earthy peat. A barbecue smoke is essential thereafter. It is more complex than the Amontillado Finish presented yesterday. I finally perceive some notes of leather and cardboard.

The palate is fat, sublime. On spicy (vanilla, cinnamon) and caramelized notes. I find yogurt cake and nice notes of apple over the tasting. Before swallowing, I pick up some dried fruit.

The finish is of a good length, as magnificent as the mouth, where aromas of wood, dried fruits and coconut follow one another.

This Ledaig with an amber color with golden reflections is another wonderful single malt. I couldn't have asked for a better entry point for this review series.

In itself a delicious and sedate Ledaig. The Oloroso barrel fits perfectly, only the slightly missing punch and the too bitter finish prevent a higher rating. But it doesn't always have to be cask strength
