The color is dark golden amber. The Macallan lies restlessly in the nosing glass and forms streaks on the glass wall. Anyone who has ever had a Macallan in their glass immediately notices: THAT is a Macallan! The typical distillery character is immediately remembered (I haven't tasted a Macallan for 4 years until yesterday), only that it is a lot more intense here thanks to the barrel strength. The 51.2% are very well integrated and carry the aromas wonderfully. Orange and citrus notes dominate, followed by light milk chocolate. Hints of nutmeg and walnuts complete the nosing with subtle notes of vanilla and a hint of oak. This, however, remains in the background and is difficult to perceive. Overall a very fruity-fresh nosing.

The nosing continues skillfully on the tongue. The notes described can all be found again. Especially the orange notes delight the tongue here. The flow of saliva is extremely stimulated. The citrus notes expand the fruity-sweet note and the light hints of nutmeg and the hint of ginger spice make the overall picture on the tongue a little more complex. After some chewing, I have the milk chocolate back and the vanilla knocks gently again. All in all very drinkable, the alcohol carries the aromas very well.

In the finish, the first impression is of course still very fruity and sweet, but this changes very quickly. The mouth becomes drier and before you know it, the oral cavity becomes drier and a medium-length, dry oak finish remains, with a few herbaceous notes flashing again, rather the Mcallan in the mouth is gone. The finish drops off a bit compared to nosing and tasting.
