    ????: dark golden
    ?
????: sweet things! Where does this sweetness come from? Slightly astringent, very strong on the tongue! It seems closer to 50% than 43% and gives such power ?! Oddly sweet, too much. Not oily, somehow not so velvety on the palate, as if it is watery, I think you can even feel a little alcohol,
????: not too long but not too short, sweet

This 43% is not good for her, there are no oily people, as if watery and mega sweet. This is not a bad whisky but also 25yo should taste more dignified. And here probably 43% of everything spoiled.

Good malt that I liked. Unfortunately, he has a few percent too little to make me nervous.
    • Nose
Nice sherry notes. The fruits are fresh fruits and go towards plums. Also something like plum dachshi. Add a little marzipan. Slightly floral notes. Bit of tree bark.
    • Taste
Pretty sweet at first. Forest honey. Candy sugar. Quittengelee. Then it gets tart, drier and spicy, because now the wood notes begin. Not so intense at first, then it is relatively full in the mouth for only 43%, because the oak brings a nice spice.
    • Finish
      Oak wort. Nuts. Black tea.

So some disclosures. Until last year I was pretty dismissive of Linkwood but then I had a glass that showed this distillery can produce something I like. So I went into this with a little hesitancy but still with opitimism.

This whisky was drunk at a festival along with 30 others and although there were many cask strength whiskies and more assertive whiskies, the Linkwood stood out as the best of the lot. I really cannot claim to do this whisky justice - a festival can be a harsh environment to make considered opinions - but even at this strength, its qualities shone through. I am sure in a relaxed evening this whisky would shine even more. Highly recommended.

    Bottler's Note:
    Colour: Dark Gold.
Nose: Hints of baked apple, stewed raisin, and cinnamon enhance rich Sherry influences. Sweet liquorice aromas develop enhanced by light floral nuances. A polished oak edge remains.
Taste: Sweet and spicy; date, prune, and raisin flavours complement warming pepper. Hints of cinnamon and clove add spice. Tangy blackcurrant notes mix with sweet cherry jam and candied citrus fruit.
Finish: A nutty edge balances the lingering oak notes.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Cinnamon rolls, nutmeg, Sesame Snaps, treacle and cherry.
Palate: Chewy raisins and dates, mixed with stem ginger, chocolate sauce and grassy malt. Still packing a lot of cinnamon warmth.
    Finish: Oily walnut and sawdust.
