The nose is something else. A great mixture of bonfire smoke, brine and a pleasantly warming citric sweetness. Some nice bbq notes as well. Truly an outstanding nose.
Wow! Wafts of smoke (bonfire, not medicinal) and seasalt are prevalent in the initial taste, with the same incredibly pleasant warming bbq sweetness.
The finish keeps in line with the nose and taste, a very nice sweet smokey lingering aftertaste remains.
This was the best whisky of the 5, easily. What an outstanding dram and what a longshot from the enjoyable but very one-dimensional "regular" Rock Oyster. This has complexity and character and overal just a really harmonious whisky.
For fans of Ledaig and the more aged Caol Ila's (18 and 25).
