In comparison to batch #1, I can't discover any Springbank or Kilkerran profile in this one. Definitely less peaty.

Banana, pear, pudding, pastry, cucumber and a touch of smoke. A peculiar sweetness... calvados?

Vanilla, apple, grains, banana. Bacardi Breezer.
    • Finish

      Apple and vanilla.

Solid whisky that is unmistakeably composed of Campbeltown malts. However, there is a certain thinness to the smell, taste and finish, and I get the impression that the blender has tried to subdue a rough & tumble malt whisky with some grain whisky, even though I know that this is a blended malt. Could work as an introduction to the Campbeltown profile if you are not used to it.

    Blind tasting:

Scent: very light and slightly pungent, young, with vanilla, white flowers, stone fruit, green apple, alcohol and a little spice
Taste: light, soft and sweet, slightly fruit, slightly smoke, waxy and grassy
Finish: short and soft, vanilla, green spices, grass, a little alcohol

There some promising and intriguing features within, but the problems with the balance, a lack of further development make the tasting experience slightly uncomfortable.

First I get overripe apples, fresh leather and some kind of chemical solvent. It is rather spirit-y and feels young. Hints of vanilla cake, rum raisins, marzipan and overripe peaches. It smells slightly unstable and a tine bit wacky. A few drops of water and about ten minutes of breathing brings a more balanced whole. I get some additional tangerine, minerals, lemon zest, a hint of red fruits and calvados.
    • Taste
      80 80
The palate opens with lots of leather, inhaled bonfire smoke (in distance), tanned peaches, mud and nectarine liquor. The spirit is present throughout these notes and does seem to need some time and water to settle. Indeed it improves slightly to a more balanced palate. More leather (now older), lemonade, Sprite and grapefruit. The aftertaste is medium long with more citrus fruits, leather and that a consistent hint of peat in the back.

N- The last piece to complete RRM series from the region of my favourite distillery.. Fresh baked oat crunch, vanilla lemon posset with punchy citrus peel. Sandy and spicy. Layer of buttery with sort floral oil and nutty developed. Malt come thru as buffer for nail polish cleanser, iodine and get peatier as it goes. Grassy and dried coconut shreds. Plenty of characters going on but feel youngish. (86/20)

P- Sweet fresh wash, flows of lager from tin can, feel metallic. Spoonful of grounded pepper on citrus coat. Full and coastal smokes part that are quite nice, but the hint of new make are obvious. Hoped would be better for Batch 4. (85/19)

F- Medium long, has the length, just tinge spirit-y, lasting pepper nuance with more grassy peat emerge and sticking around. (85/19)

    B/B- 85/19

    Cr- 2, Fr- 2, Fl- 1, Pt- 2, Ft- 1, Sp- 1, Wd-1, Wn-1, Sc-3

    Weighted Rate- 77pt
