Whisky Reviews for Glenkinchie 2006

The nose feels good ripe fruit, perhaps pear, floral (rose), fresh cereal and a note of tea. Very original and pleasant.
In the mouth it is light, a little spicy and sweet. The taste has something familiar that takes me back many years to the time of elementary school. I have to think about it a lot but finally I have the enlightenment: cocoina, the glue in the cylindrical jar that was used at school!
The finish is delicate and creamy, with the cocoina still in the background. Very original, I really liked it!
- A rather good showing from Glenkinchie, although I could do with something a little less dry and spicy.
Fairly shy. Rum raisins and peanut skins, accompanied by a sweet floral influence. There's just a slight farmy touch as well, giving it some depth. I also get subtle stone fruits.
Rather malty, dry and spicy (cloves, ginger), with a touch of toasted oak. There's a whiff of tobacco too, and roasted peanuts. Slightly sour and herbacious, with just a hint of cherry syrup.
Lingering spices. Medium in length.
- Almost youthful fresh - the first thought was more towards fruity raw brandy. You only notice the barrel finish in taste and finish. On the nose there is a lot of crisp, fresh fruit with a slight penchant for tropical fruits (e.g. peach). In addition, sweet and floral.
Well done overall, but an easy drinking whisky and nothing that spontaneously inspires me. Pleasant but interchangeable. However, I could imagine that beginners in the field of single malt whisky have very good access here. The price is around 50 € a little too high for my taste. There are better on cheaper / similar terms.
Apple, cherry, cereals, honey, a few strawberries, in the background a few herbs / grasses
Honey, green apple, some very mild pepper, apple peel
