    What can you say when you find an incredible blend other than... more please!
    • Nose
      87 87
      The nose is sherry lead, raisins and Christmas cake. Mud, machine oil and Tamari almonds.
    • Taste

      The palate is an eye opener! Wow huge body here! The quality of he sherry speaks volumes... big spices and sweet tea cakes. Camphor and grape skins meet roasted nuts and spices (cardamom and clove, mace and cinnamon). Motor oil and vanilla essential oils. As it opens there’s even some peat in the background.

      The finish is long... very long; you can tell this is old whisky; quality oak hardwood and balsamic vinegar (the really good stuff), nutmeg on top of sweet flan.

    These are the blends we're looking for! Blind I would have never identified this as a blended malt. It's well constructed and of very high quality. The only thing that keeps me from scoring higher, is the spiciness. It's quite hot and dry at just over 53%. Adding a dash of water fixed this for me and made it a lot more enjoyable. Quite some fruity notes and not as dark and umami, therefore I think it was matured on a refill sherry butt. A good one to be clear! At its price I wouldn't mind a case of this to come back to from time to time. Well recommended if you can still find one.
    • Nose
      Refined and fruity sherry nose, a little alcoholic at first sniff. Apple cider, coconut, orange peel, raisin, cherry and fig go together with dark chocolate, dry oloroso sherry, custard creme, peach yoghurt and marzipan. Further on creamy malt, manuka honey, almond and a touch of mint. Some leather, balsamic vinegar, stale beer and a little smoke too. Nothing bad so far, very good actually. Not too grotesque on sherry after 24 years, but that's a good thing here. Balance is the keyword.
    • Taste
      Somewhere between thin and oily, but a true flavour explosion that covers the whole mouth. Spicy for its strength. (Blood)orange, apple, apricot, raisin, fig and banana cover the fruity spectrum. On to the sweets: chocolate sauce, salted caramel, sultana, creme brulee and licorice. Malt, vanilla, manuka honey, hazelnut and walnut lead to pepper, ginger, balsamic vinegar and some unpleasant oak tannins. A very well crafted blend with a lot of spice and power at its age, you either love it or hate it. Adding water tames it down and turns up the sweeter notes. Going neat is not always the best option :)
    • Finish
      Medium in length, very dry and malty. Sultana, dark chocolate, caramel, pistacchio and menthol are prominent.

      a very clean malt, rather simply knitted and tasty, to a heavy sweetness, dried figs and dates, pickled sour cream, a little cinnamon and dark chocolate, coffee and some sour oak

    Serele notes are distinctly pronounced (chocolate, mosaic coffee, tobacco leaves, nuts (almond, greek), dark berries (spiny cherry), interwoven with the scent of the earth, mushroom, old tree, dried hops, soy milk.

    Lots, lots of coffee .... strong black coffee (analogy ... firmly brewed coffee in turkey on sand ????, walnut notes, candied sweet-sour cream (to grapefruit closer than lemon), dry chocolate cookies with black raisins ???? and the third wave is old .. old varnished tree. Good ...

    Nice, rounded sherry bottling. The sherry is not too dominant, fits well. Fine smoke. Clean barrel.
    Very tasty and tasty, evaporated by itself.

    A few drops of water make it even smoother and rounder and fruity.
    • Nose
      Dried fruits, a few nuts, just a hint of saltpetre and a fine smoke veil in the background. Apricot chutney.
    • Taste
      Starts sweet and quite full. Then comes ginger, furniture polish and oak, nuts. Smoke and also sherry. Ground.
    • Finish
      Long, intense, nutty, yellow fruits, sherry.

    Earthy-spicy. Of the supposedly used malts, Glenrothes outweighs me in any case. First cooling a bit in the nose, can withstand well water. The oak-rich finish underlines once again the 24 years.
