Not a rough and tumble kind of Port Charlotte. Quite round and balanced. Very maritime, salty, and lots of herring. Oats and porridge. Hints of pears, vanilla, and mint. Port Charlotte is coming of age? I can't wait until PC start is 25yo. Most likely will be better than most 25yo Port Ellens out there to be honest. The distillate is just pure quality.

A very controlled and precise Port Charlotte. Delicious smoke. Vanilla and white fruits like white peaches and Korean pears. Complex and balanced. Perfect strength. Love it.

Best Port Charlotte I've had. Very balanced, very precise, and also very elegant (for a PC).

A very nice and exciting bottling. PC au naturell and unvarnished, no Fassgefrickel, how beautiful. That's really fun.

Beautifully matured, yet powerful and with twists and turns in the flavors. No water, that makes him sharper.
    • Nose
      90 90
Clearly maritime, sea breeze, marzipan, mussels, sardines, lemons, some tar. Amazingly elegant. A tick of undergrowth in the background.
    • Taste
      89 89
Sweet, full, rich smoke, iodine, bandages, lemons and peach.
Some white pepper. Enormously tasty at high intensity, has fire, but the alcohol is quite well integrated. Then there is also some apricot jam. Tight and concentrated
    • Finish
      89 89
Dry, salty, richly smoky, intense. Then again Pfrisich, apricots and lemons. Ends on vanilla notes.

Very nicely done. Not unbelievably multilayered, but perfectly consistent and incredibly delicious. 89 points.
    • Nose
      90 90
Intense, cooling, by no means ashy intoxication. Sweetish herbs. Creamy. Spicy, woody honey.
    • Taste
      89 89
Wow. Full and sweet. Earthy smoke is everywhere. Very creamy. Not sharp and wild, rather set and quiet. Some pine needle. The smoke is dominant and also in Nachschmecken it remains present.
    • Finish
      87 87
Long, smoky and spicy. A touch of coal remains forever.

  8. ScotchGuyTO scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

I’ve never been a big peat fan but when it’s done right; it’s well worth it.
This cask is proof that Islay whisky can be both multidimensional and incredible quality when it's handled correctly!
    • Nose
      91 91
The nose leads tones of smoke meets old tires and dried autumn leaves. Mint and bergamot mingle with some over torched creme brûlée.
    • Taste
      90 90
The palate is big; like wide malt and sweet brine meet charred mint and raspberry tart with chocolate drizzle. It’s something else; more dried citrus peel and savory sage brine begets a minty dough with clotted cream.
    • Finish
      89 89
The finish is longer; mint and oak play with old tires and soft clotted cream. There’s a lovely floral lavender mixing with the peat smoke and more short crust and a twinge of struck match to round it out.

  9. Kensay scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

Bright and harmonious molt, the nose is quite tender, and the taste and finish are powerful, a little straightforward, but tasty
    • Nose
Sweet smoke, citrus and sea salt, gentle enough, iodine, a little menthol gum
    • Taste
Rich, sea, a lot of sea salt and iodine, lemon juice with spices, in spite of the strength of the spirit notes neatly woven into the flavor range and do not come to the fore
    • Finish
The finish is long, dry, harmoniously continues the taste. Spices and iodine come to the fore. and then added notes of peach and vanilla

  10. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Very unique PC in my opinion, find the direction but great, the pine nuts in combi with very dry fruit and angular notes such as tires, etc. is very rare. In addition, nice bums behind it.
    • Nose
A lot of fresh tires from the workshop, plus clear sea air, lots of moss, forest honey, pine nuts, marzipan, mussels, spelled biscuits, chestnut, dry blood orange, some green apple, hay, tobacco, anise, ginger
    • Taste
Whole wheat toast, the mature, moss and resin, pine nuts, bitter orange, rather less salt here, if rather iodine, some marzipan, chestnut, blood orange in very dry, green apple, white pepper, strong steam behind it, tobacco and ginger
    • Finish
Dry-hot, now a little more salt, burning ripen, apricot, marzipan, chestnut
