A very bad choice of a peated malt.
    • Nose
Heavily charred smoke, burnt plastic, melted rubber, ash, old and bitter oak barrel. At least there's malt in there too and no ethanol burn to speak of. Not a terrible nose, but one that has me wondering what the heck they were trying to do here.
    • Taste
Unfortunately, a complete copy of the nose. Once again I'm puzzled about the idea behind this ridiculous palate. It's nothing like the good peated malts out there. There's nothing in common with Islands or Islay here, but I'd like to think that most Highland peat lovers wouldn't or indeed shouldn't enjoy this either. Once again, at least this is decently aged and there's no hard ethanol burn.
    • Finish
Too long, considering the wretched palate. I'm tempted to rinse my throat as fast as possible after tasting this. Once again, it's not because of poor quality, but all due to the awful profile of this absolutely puzzling malt.

Final thoughts: I was wondering why this scored 2/10 on Malt Review and now I know. I personally wouldn't rate it anywhere that low, as that would mean it's undrinkable. It's not undrinkable at all. In fact, I've met some questionable personalities who claimed they actually enjoyed this whisky. They do exist. Just take a look around here. However, if you truly value and respect your own palate, then please stay away from this experiment.
I'm aware that Grant's wanted this whisky to "demystify" peat for beginners, but I honestly can't think of a worse way to actually push beginners away from the wonderful world of scotch peat, than Land Cask.

When WG starts releasing a single malt in GS, you have to go and see!
    nose:
fine peat, a little dry, vanilla and a little cooked lemon, a little spices too
    a floral side in return
    mouth:
the peat present, but not very strong, intense smoke is grafted on it, fruits on undifferentiated yellow fruits, simple, creamy, easy for an Islay rite or for a starter for a variation because it is nice , but monolithic, almost watery in the mouth in fact
    final:
spicy, peppery, peaty again finally, velvety and vanilla, lemon with a little cream that hides the acidity!
bitterness spoils the finale of this light dram.
for the price, don't hide your face, you are dealing with a real Islay from elsewhere who wins the pawn with a lot of whiskys from elsewhere.

The glass smells nice of peat, the aroma is light and pleasant.
After the first drink, I felt an earthy taste with pleasantly rising peat.
On Wednesday, I felt the reverberation of peat.
In the end, there is again a pleasant taste of peat, nothing intense but pleasantly soft.

Smoked malt. Sweet, malty, much smoked, lacking in firmness

I haven't had many different whiskys yet but this was one of the better ones so far.

The sour smoke of a room smoked in wet weather. The taste is sweet and sour. The aftertaste is short.

Entry level, very simple, faceless, smoky whisky. There are a lot of similar releases, only almost all of them without age. In my opinion, this sample lacks fortress, but overall it is quite tasty. They say about such people - “a strong middle peasant”.
    • Nose
Dry, smoky, with echoes of iodine, tar and chernozem.
    • Taste
Smoked meat, salt, iodine and a lot of pepper.
    • Finish
Sufficiently long, bright, pepper, with a high content of phenols, shades of iodine and salt.
