A shy nose that doesn't reveal much of the very tasty body.
Cask influence is minimal for an 18YO, leaving a lot to be carried by the destillate.
A few drops of water doesn't hurt this one.
I feel there's a lot of the distillery profile coming through here.
Also quite light in colour, so I suspect this has not been a first fill cask.
Fruity, grassy, citric.
Melon, grapes, unripe peach.
Oaky tannins and a little prickly alc fume.
A little water makes the alc fume more acceptable.
Sweeter, less citric, more grassy and the fruit turns more yellow plum/pear.
A lot more going on here than on the nose.
Oily with a rapid build up of peppery wood spice.
Still some fruity sweetness manageing to push through.
A little water reduces the spice considerably.
Wood notes seem to turn into leather.
Fatty nuts. Walnuts?
Drying, with a good amount of peppery spice lingering.
Still fairly long with a few drops of water. Not as dry and spice is reduced. I think it gets a very nice sweet liqorice note.
