Nose: Cherry with a little spice. Some sweetness. Slightly smoky as well. It smells vaguely like a sea breeze to me, I’m fond of the salty aroma.

Palate: Salty in the best way. Malty and smoky but pretty subtle. Hint of caramel.

Finish: Smokier on the finish than on the palate. Sweetness and fruitiness. And the smoke is a nice touch and keeps it smooth.

Overall Score: 89. The nose does happen to be the most intricate part. It’s a fine dram and I’m happy to savor the bottle for the novelty as well as the quality. I very much enjoyed this and will continue to do so.

N: it's like the earth was mixed with squeezed fruits to make an earthy, fruity mud. Wait, there's straw's too. So Scottich Adobe?
P: earthy, red apples, maybe some other fruits
F: shorter than you'd expect. focus is towards an earthiness

One of the more interesting Obans in my opinion.

Okay then time for the Oban tasting.

I think they have used caramel in the entire series for the color because they all look pretty much the same.

Roll the whisky through the glass and turn it well over the edges and we can start.

I can smell an orange peel first. Some chocolate and cherries.

You also taste the caramel, the chocolate seems to taste a bit like dark chocolate. But actually I think the whisky is rather flat. I expected more from it.

The aftertaste is a bit dry, but it will stick around for a long time. Again a bit peppery and a woody finish.

Looks like an ok whisky but does not find him very special.

    • Nose
A hint of dried tea and fresh tobacco, as well as shoe polish. Soft notes of dry sherry, raspberry and maraschino cherries. Getting fruitier with time, and there's a touch of candle wax too.
    • Taste
Not very complex at all. Quite malty, with whiffs of cloves, but also black berries, dark caramel and some damp wood. A tad dry.
    • Finish
Lingering spices with a hint of caramel sweetness. Medium in length.
