N: mixed fruits with apple the dominant, sprinkle of cinnamon
P: straw, baked apples, nutmeg or another dried, ground spice
F: really starts to focus on a spice mix

I have never been a big Cardhu fan but this is pleasant.

      Nuts, malt.

Maybe a little fruity and dry, a bit spicy and sweet. Most prevalent is malt, in a very big way, and it has a kind of soft, creamy quality. It was hard to find other flavors through the malt. Water made it bad and I had to pour out the remainder.

      Malt tapering off.

Doesn't have that friendly nose I used to smell by Cardhu...

      Just another speyside single malt.

Not too long, sweet, friendly, but just not that special.

  4. thijs100 scored this whisky 74 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
A gentle sweetness, with plenty of vanilla and toffee, as well as red apple peel and a whiff of orange juice. Finally a touch of marzipan as well. Candy-esque almost. Too sweet?
    • Taste
Fairly creamy, with hints of toasted oak, caramel and sweet sugary barley water. It has a spicy layer as well, like cinnamon and black pepper. A hint of menthol too.
    • Finish
Lingering spices, then apples. Pretty short.

Once a noble family of the vast Valyrian Freehold, the Targaryens launched a devastating invasion in Westeros unifying the continent under their rule.
Let's see of this dram is both 'fire and blood'

The first whiff of this is a little bit spirity. A big box of grainy biscuits. Mashed potatoes and a sour or perhaps spoiled cream. Not the best start. Marzipan and cake and a little anise.
    • Taste
      69 69
Sweet cereals with sugar, some coconut and cocoa fantasy powder like nesquick. Some turkish Delight, buns with 'sukade' or candied peel. The lemons finally get it to be fresher but also introduces bitterness. Almonds and other nuts.

I get grapeseeds, red berries and spelt bread.
A bitter and harsh finish. I quess this was bottled at the end of Robert's rebellion, yeah not the dragons finest hour.
