  1. magic_slim scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Tasty from a high quality sherry cask.

    Color: Chestnut oloroso sherry
    • Nose
      89 89
Sweet with full oloroso sherry aroma at first nosing. Chestnuts, red fruits (cherries, grapes), dates, toffee and sherry oak. A lovely nose.
    • Taste
      89 89
Sherry, spices and oak at first mouthfeel. Slightly sweet with notes of red grapes when swallowed. Notes of chocolate and tobacco, spicy and oaky.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium long with notes of chocolate and sherry, spicy and oaky, slightly bitter.

It should be forbidden to bottle Glengoyne at this young age. The minimum really should be 15 years.

    Still fun, though.

Heavy sherry, obviously, and a lovely spicy side, but a bit closed without water. Once it's diluted, you get licorice, oxtail soup / umami, beautiful oak and jammy fruit notes - definitely add water!
    • Taste
      83 83
Dark and herbal, and too spicy (for me) without water.
With water it remains simple (it's only 10 years old, after all), and pretty hot, but the European oak comes out more and becomes increasingly fragrant. Too bad that spirit and oak have not had enough time to really integrate. Instead, it's as if they are standing next to each other, a bit perplexed and nonplussed, helpless to do much with each other's company.
    • Finish
      82 82
Too young and hot for a higher score. The flavors are nice, but it's just too unbalanced and sharp as a whole.

  3. Mannix65 scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

intensive sherry whisky - well balanced, the alcohol is well integrated, not very complex, but very tasty
    • Nose
      88 88
Thickened cherry compote with a lot of sherry, cranberries, but also old balsamico, raspberries in the background, mild notes of pepper
    • Taste
      88 88
Sherry, rum grape nut chocolate, red grape juice, maple syrup, forest honey, pine cones - with the addition of water, distinct astringent wood notes emerge
    • Finish
      87 87
medium-long - dry, sweet and distinct tannins

  4. LordBellamy scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

with water: a few drops do the malt well, it is rounder and softer, the aromas are even better together, in the mouth it is very creamy

Conclusion: Great bottling, just as younger sherry whisky in cask strength should come over
    • Nose
      89 89
very fruity sherry bomb, cherry juice, blackberry, red currant, subtle cinnamon and clove flavors, very light, peppery tingling in the nose, strong oaky spice
    • Taste
      88 88
the expected full load of sherry, cherry, forest berries, oak
    • Finish
      87 87
medium, again the fruity sherry flavors, here the wood is very strong and also dry, behind cocoa, nutmeg and again cloves / cinnamon mixture

  5. Noface83 scored this whisky 88 points Specialist

Simple but heavy sherry bomb that offers everything you would expect from a 10Y old Sherry Glengoyne. Just great and delicious.
    • Nose
      90 90
Wow what a fruity and woody sherry bomb at once, wild berries - dark, juicy and sweet, cherry juice, honey sweetness and in addition old dusty wood and a hint of chocolate. Straight but great nose.
    • Taste
      87 87
Supple but slightly sparkling. Chocolate cake with cherry on top, cola syrup, caramel and again wild berries. Again, beautiful oak in the background.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium-long and chocolate finish, dry wood and warming alcohol, but also a huge sherry sweetness. Simple again, but good.

  6. Port Ardbeg scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Fruity, ripe cherries, strawberries, banana, dates, sweet pastries, caramel, honey
    • Taste
Chocolate, fruity - malty, milder & slightly bitter oak
    • Finish
medium to long, alcohol noticeable, but not dominant
