Wow, the ravages on the tongue as if there's no tomorrow .... the alcohol is not optimally involved. Unfortunately, this guy is excellent. :-)

You can dilute it to 43% without any problems and the sherry will be a fruity-autumn companion next to this great smoke monster of the Isle of Mull.

90 € are a lot of money for 11 years, but with this dilution ratio and the ingenious nose, the intense taste and the obliquely endless finish ...

"What does the world cost? - I'll take half!"

    Super intense sherry Ledaig.
    • Nose
Sherry, lots of peat. Ledaig typical cowshed aromas. A couple of matches, but not exactly sulfur. Great intense nose.
    • Taste
Strong, sweet sherry aromas, peat, tobacco, tart oak. Wild but in a strange way also harmonious.
    • Finish
Sherry, sweetness, peat, tart oak, tobacco and cigar smoke. Long and tasty.

The best Ledaig for me that I've had in a glass so far
    • Nose
      89 89
Smoke and sherry sweetness rise in the nose, spicy aroma, some dark fruits. You can feel the alcohol, but not as violently, and the oak, too, has a pleasantly balanced aroma - but "dirty", difficult to define
    • Taste
      91 91
Strong start, the not too strong sweetness of the sherry comes first, then the smoke and also some oak demand attention - the smoke wins, but overall well balanced.

As with the nose, you get the impression that there is something "dirty" about it, but the often mentioned cowshed nope, cowshed smells different.
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium length, warming and the smoke is most likely to stay in the mouth with a slight bitter wood note

Smooth smoker with a clear sherry influence. Nice profile, especially the nose is exciting.

Notes from a blind online chat tasting.

      Oh, smoke! * * Froi
Cold hearth makes the beginning. In addition a lot of mineral notes. First cover on it.
The smoke has settled now, yellow fall fruit. But now more with Speyside Peat, an Ardmore? It could be Ledaig, but I do not believe Islay.
I can now confirm the cowshed, but discreetly.
Warms citrus notes and the smoke tends to go towards the campfire. Some chemistry fire, Now it's meaty, Barbeque.
Yes, I think it's 10-11y Ledaig out of the vase.

After the first sip in the nose now also iodine.
    • Taste

Pretty sweet at the start, but also strong, see the well over 56%. Fir honey and herbs. Menthol to the back.

Second sip: Very oily, very sweet, now also dark fruit pulp, again herbs.
    • Finish
      89 89
Pretty long, warms up vigorously. The menthol becomes more prominent but milder, maybe just licorice.

Second sip: As usual, just a little longer.

Neither the smoke nor the sweet-fruity sherry dominate here. The 1st Fill sherry keg fully fulfills its purpose here. It brings the strong sweet fruitiness, which can counteract the strong smoke arms and thus keeps the whole harmonic in the balance. At just 11, he lacks the complexity and depth. But the beautifully balanced, powerful aromas make up for that.
    • Nose
      89 89
Immediately after pouring exudes this beautiful, very typical Ledaig smoke. Freshly burnt wood fire with a little burnt rubber, with a hint of burned almonds and nuts. The flavors are maritime and earthy at the same time. Behind the thick smoke jacket you can now slowly guess the sherry. As soon as the nose has become accustomed to the smoke, these sweet sherry aromas are more and more in the foreground and become stronger over time, dark berries, dates, pickled raisins and spicy gingerbread. The strong alcohol is present and noticeable, but at no time becomes too dominant or intrusive.
    • Taste
      88 88
An extremely strong start the almost 58% are immediately noticeable but not unpleasant. A sweet smoke with a surprisingly sweet fruitiness that I did not expect. In the end, a delicate sweet bitterness is added, such as milk coffee with sugar.
    • Finish
      88 88
Aisle to long, slightly warming, the strong smoke aromas remain noticeable for a long time. With a sweet bitterness he sounds slowly.

Bah! Smoked sauerkraut on the nose, followed by some fruity-sweet BBQ sauce. To put it nicely: takes some getting used to.

Intensely ashy in the mouth with chocolate and a hint of fruit.

In the finish there are waves of ash, chocolate, tar and wood.
    Length: 7/10

The alcohol is not present at any time, it only provides intensity.

My nose doesn't like me at all, but what happened after that was great cinema. Overall, a great malt if the flavor is right.

    Note 1-
