Punchy, honey, leather and little zesty and a tad bitter in the end - still very good

Very drinkable at 52,6%. A few drops of water are no problem. One of the best HP I ever drank. Extremely well balanced. IMHO a great deal of effort has gone in creating this whisky, and it shows. Slainte!
    • Nose
First and foremost; Fruit. A mix of green, yellow and red. The best kind. The red fruit is very ripe, although not overpowering the green and yellow. Let's not forget the oranges. Dark chocolate. Some leather. There is vanilla, some mint and maybe even some coconut. It totally lacks the spices I find in other modern HP. Very well made!
    • Taste
Dark honeyed cigars, chocolate, ripe red fruits, there is some yellow fruit there, but I cannot taste any fresh green fruit. Leather. Vanilla. Some mint. And yes, salty.
    • Finish
Quite long and not drying at all. Dark red fruits linger, the mint and vanilla come back in waves, everything is coated in a leathery kind of light cigar smoke.

This was a really lovely expression, completely different from any contemporary Highland Park I’ve tried. It felt kind of like an older style whisky, rough, dirty and rich. Very big on complexity and a very dynamic palate, with the flavours constantly developing. Absolutely stunning.

    • Nose
Rich nutty wood. Brown glue. Plum wine. Orange cake. Jam biscuits. Vanilla caramel. Very subtle but present sandalwood.
    • Taste
Leather. Dusty books. Dry, sweet wood. Oranges. Ruby grapefruit. Slightly earthy. Bitter wood and green herbs on the swallow.
    • Finish
Medium. Very salty. Toffee. Plums. Bitter wood. Woodspice.

    Colour: Old gold.
Nose: Peaty, tarry, maritime, on heather and honey,
tangerine, citrus, orange marmalade and some seaweeds. A quite dry and tarry
    expression.
Taste: Slightly dry and citric, on peat smoke, tangerine and
some cold ashes. The finish is long, dry, mineral, peaty, slightly lemony, on
    seaweeds and tangerine.
General Impression: A quite dry and mineral expression of
Highland Park, slightly farmy and "old fashioned". Very pleasant.
