This is a full and thick bodied nose for a 12yo at 40%! Today’s 12yo is all about apples and pears. This one is definitely not. Tropical fruits allover the place. It has the sweetness in a canned fruit mix kind of way. Apricot, lychees and a beautiful rather big hit of coconut. Pleasant nose.
Thin and watery. If only the taste was as good as the nose...floral taste, not so much fruity. Mild and easy accessible. It gives a little bit of everything; sweet, sour, salty, and a tad bitter. It serves the complete palate. No wonder this is one of those universally loved malts in the old days.
Rather short. Tropical fruitiness comes back again. Again the sweetness like in canned fruit mix. Again coconut. And also some woodspice.
A very pleasant dram! Would buy a full bottle if I had the chance. If only because Glenlivet 12 (modern version, was my first malt. It all went downhill from there on....
