Nose: strong aromas of sherry, plums, chocolate.

Taste: Strong alcoholic flavor. When water is added, it opens and becomes very fruity. Plums, raisins, tea notes. slightly bitter, but cool, this bitterness is woven into this sweetness. This is good.

Rating: 90 | 100 Finish quite long fruity. Cool taste.

Nice dark fruity, herbaceous nose with black tea. Then herbaceous in the mouth, the alcohol comes, but tolerable and very dark delicious chocolate notes with espresso emerge, as an opponent dark fruit, which is nice ... in the finish then again herbs, slight bitterness and a pleasant light dry oak note. The overall package is right here.

Sweet plums and raisins, a lot of warmth is immediately added to the creaminess, bitter spice arises

Warm finish, the dark chocolate notes and the coffee stick to the palate for a long time, slightly bitter

Definitely one of the 10 best whiskys I've ever had. Unfortunately, the price is now much too high.

[October, 2018] I had a tasting dram of this very pricey bottle at the bar of the Aberfeldy distillery to verify if it is worth buying…

...and unfortunately, it is not! This is a sherried whisky of average-only quality, at best: because the colour of a dram is very dark does not automatically mean it is very good, too. Completely overpriced in my honest opinion, I would not spend more than 80 Euro on a bottle of that quality...
    • Nose
      87 87
The nose offers a modern-style oloroso profile that is punchy and rather shy on herbal and sweet winey aromas. Some water does not change a lot and more water … does not change anything either. This nose stays shy and unimpressive regardless how long you wait or how much water you add.
    • Taste
      89 89
The taste is of a flawless herbal-sweet sherry profile with raisins and figs but no chocolatey notes at all (quite unusual with a sherried dram). After adding some water the taste gets both more alcoholic-punchy and more bitter, I do not like that. More water flattens the dram quickly.
    • Finish
      88 88
The initial mouthfeel is hot, peppery, creamy and coating with no distracting moments. The finish is long and adds no new impressions beside a very shy chocolatey note. After reduction the finish gets bitter-astringent before it quickly flattens out.
