Pours a mildly darkened gold. Scent is insane ! a thick, vanilla infused imperial stout (USA style) comed to mind. Characterfull barrel, perhaps ? very intense, lovely, unique as f*** . Taste is full, very intense indeed. Drying by the alcohol, very harsh maltyness. Rough raw grains, very outspoken liquid bread. Milder, yet still present , vanilla. Lovely, yet very rough.

If I didn't know better from the information then I would guess a PX barrel (because of the Maggi notes). Overall nice and spicy but a little too much Maggi for me ....
    • Nose
      82 82
Clear Maggi notes, very rich and spicy, sherry.
    • Taste
      85 85
Lush sherry notes, cooked fruits (apricot), vanilla, substantial, rye notes, spicy, nutty.
    • Finish
      81 81
The Maggi lingers for a long time, the fruits fade away quite early. Overall a bit inharmonious.

The most in-depth hyde whisky in the range.
    • Nose
Very thick sherry! You can safely call this a small sherry bomb. Vanilla, Raisins, Figs, Dried Fruit, Heavy PX
    • Taste
Here the PX pops in again. Nuts, apricot, malt, sourdough bread. Still quite round and smooth
    • Finish
All of the above but unfortunately a bit short.

Very atypical Irish with sherry on top, rather out of round
    • Nose
      72 72
Cellar musty / slightly moldy, perfumed intrusive PX Sherry Sherry sweetness
    • Taste
      77 77
Light Maggi or Marmite, sherry quite intrusive,
    • Finish
      73 73
Tart and dry finish, relatively short, sharp

Wow, a sweet sherry with a rum note and dried red fruits. A typical Oloroso aroma comes through later; I find the 5 year old to be good with a good PLV.
    • Nose

clear sherry note. Some spices. Slight honey notes. Dark red fruits towards dried plums and raisins. Sweetness not so pronounced, some rum sweetness (grapes, in rum), some marzipan. I don't have any floral things in my nose, but over time a sweetie gets through more. Reminds of the Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2017, but without smoke. Interesting! Alcohol note is not intrusive. In the background there is a very slightly acidic note, possibly lime acid (lime zest) that occurs very late. There is still some heather hidden there, but it will become less and less over time. I find it relatively complex in the nose.
    • Taste
      90 90
first soft, then a wort builds up, at the same time somewhat velvety and oily-creamy. Something slightly nutty, and sweetness of marzipan. Warming. Rum notes, raisins and plums are dominant, with some milk chocolate.
    • Finish
      83 83
medium length finish. Dry sherry note (Oloroso) with very light spice. Getting dry. The nutty aroma recedes somewhat. Something toasted: toasted Brazil nuts, toasted almonds? Exciting.

This whisky starts with quite pleasant nose, although very young but vivid and with beautifully integrated sherriness. Even notable fusel oil aromas play very well with other nose components. However, the palate is a complete disappointment: it’s unbalanced, bitter and very spirituous. The finish is also rather unpleasant. So I wouldn’t buy this whisky even for the half of its price.
    • Nose
Very young with notable sherry notes - sultanas and dried apricots, strong maltiness, grassy notes, stewed vegetables, earth and dust on the background
    • Taste
Medium-sweet, spirituous, solvent, strong bitterness, malty, woody with strong tannins, porridge note
    • Finish
Dry, medium-long, bitter, somewhat nutty, malty
