Whisky Reviews for Benrinnes 2000 SMWS 36.149

- C: Benrinnes seems to shine around 19-21 years, so this is a touch wise before its years - and would you check SMWS’s title!
- It has lots of wax and stunning chilly on the tongue, definitely requires water.
- SMWS Tasting Notes: The panel were knocked out by the beauty of this one. Precious hardwoods on a hot lathe, beechwood resin, candle wax, old school cough syrup, hessian bung cloth and chamois leather all made themselves felt on the nose. Water added long-aged riesling, lychee, rosewater, oily rancio qualities, plums in Armagnac and almond flakes. The mouth was dense and oily with further waxy notes, wood spice, linseed oil, beeswax furniture polish and notes of leaf mulch, spices and old books. Shows its age beautifully. Water reveals notes of dry Gewurtztraminer, motor oil, orange sherbet, mulling spices, aged herbal liqueurs, wet earth and gorse.
