Nice nose, long finish but the palate is sherry overtaken with some sulphury notes, not bad but not my style of whisky. Interesting to try but I would never buy a whole bottle.

Could have been a Mortlach if you ask me. A heavy distillate driven and extreme Oloroso matured whisky. Not for the faint-hearted, but for the lovers of some in your face, austere, bone dry yet fruity whisky. I like it!
    • Nose
Quite powerful and intense, almost salted, on maggi (stock) and oxtail soup. Furthermore it is super sherry matured, but bone dry Oloroso style. It has dried fruit (prune, white raisin and fig) and blood orange, rancio, balsamic vinegar and even almost a cola scent. There is also an intense woodiness and spiciness to it, on pine resin, vanilla, clove and pepper (and maybe even more). Behind all these intense aromas is a backbone of some heavy weighted malt (honeyed cereal).
    • Taste
Full-power sherry influenced, with this incredible rancio sourness that Oloroso can bring about, combined with balsamic vinegar. The salty / oxtail style combines very good with the dried fruit, which is more on prunes and dates now. The alcohol is intense, with quite some pepper, but it fits well in this blockbuster. It even seems if there is some wood smoke present.
    • Finish
Fierce, long, heavy on dried fruit, orange, rancio, pepper, some honey and hay.

Pretty intense Oloroso Sherry- nice dram, but almost too much sherry notes

A nice blend of sherry cask influence and the fruity Linkwood spirit. This distillery has yet to disappoint me.
    • Nose
Needs time to open up, but then rewards you with lots of fruit. Red apples, nectarines and dried red fruits. The sherry influence is lovely and mellow, bot at all overpowering. There is plenty of room for to tropical Linkwood fruits. And there's a whiff of cinnamon too. With water there's more beeswax.
    • Taste
Syrupy with red fruits, cherries and honey. Mouth coating. Warming and spicy, nutmeg mainly. The sherry influence is more present here.
    • Finish
Some bitterness with sweet rum and chocolate. Nice and long.

Great vanilla smell with a sherry sweetness! Wonderfull spicy and warm taste, with a lingering finish that reminders me of spiced rum. Great first experience with Linkwood! This is one great after-dinner whisky. I Am looking forward to try another version of Linkwood.

T: spices, a forest of pine trees - resin, smoke, lemon, grass, grape fruits, orange, cinnamon and liquorice
