The nose is still very promising, he is on the tongue and the finish with his perfumed touch but rather getting used to. I would not want to speak of a false mark yet.

Spicy peat smoke with BBQ flavor, accompanied by lemon juice and pressed green grapes. Maybe something else pear. Wet straw - and after a while, a nice spice mixture peels out, a colorful mix, spice cupboard and nose in. Beautiful development in the nose from strong smoky-fruity to behaving smoky-spicy. Add nougat and marzipan.

It rolls over the tongue with sweet grapes and spices. Peat smoke spreads immediately throughout the mouth. Then a slightly perfumed note passes through, a bit as if you smell the freshly laundered laundry moving in the wind on the leash. The impression weakens, but returns with each new sip. Unusual. Getting used to. Next to that is honey and milk chocolate, with time a mild herbal mix

Medium to short, only slightly smoky, slightly oily, residual fruit and recurring wash.

Compared to other 100% Islays, this is not my most favorite one.
I don't know if it's the taste of perfume or of sour grapes, but something seems to be in disharmony. Like 1 musician in an orchestra is out of tune.
The 50% alcohol covers most of it up, so adding water doesn't help.
But I don't want to be too negative. I would buy it again without thinking twice!
Maybe Anthony spoiled me with his other (very) high quality 100% Islays.

    1482) Kilchoman, 100% Islay, The 8th Edition (2018)

100% Islay from barley to bottle. Vatted together a 23 bourbon barrel with 7 olorosso cask, tuned down to 50% abv. Love the ethnic of Kilchoman to uphold the spirit on being a farm distillery. Thus plenty of hit and miss over the years with their various releases, still feel enthusiastic whenever able to get hold of a new releases from Kilchoman of any kind. However, feel that 100% Islay always at the shadow of Loch Gorm, which is closer to my heart.
    • Nose
N- Candy red plum with mild marine breezes. Coal smokes with dirty ashes on oily tar stained wall. Nicotine filter, at the same time a hot brew spiced black tea. Peats lurking with resinous emerged lates on, smoked dried white fish. (86/20)
    • Taste
P- Paper ashes with juicy sweet mango and canned lychee, though some dried bonito flakes too. Well intertwined of smoke and sweetness. Despite at 50%, this appeared harmless, shy and laid back. (86/20)
    • Finish
F- Medium, smooth and mild, gentle with candy sweet. More smokes developed with minty freshness reminds you the origin. Fine underlying dryness subside gradually. (85/19)

Because of the sherry casks too balsamic compared to the others. Not quite fitting with the ppm strength

Sweet, sweet wine ... berry notes, poems ... similar to RH ???? ‍♂️. Peat is sweet, iodine is minimal ... I do not catch salt. (21)
    • Taste
Berry sour, fruit, a little peat (21,5)
    • Finish
Sweet finish, dried fruits, berries, a little smoke (21.5)

One of my absolute favorite distilleries.
Overall, I find this whisky very successful, as always, despite its young age.
    • Nose
      85 85
First I get the citrus fruits in my nose. It is not only lemon, but also a hint of orange that comes to mind. Then nicely woven smoke, salt and vanilla. In the course I lose the orange again, but then light pear notes.
    • Taste
      80 80
First of all nice sweetness, again citrus fruits and smoke that occupies the mouth. This is quickly accompanied by a strong salty taste and pepper. In combination with a light bitter note, then also herbs.
    • Finish
      78 78
A decent finish for his age. Overall, however, rather medium long (or just medium short).
Especially salt, smoke, ash, very mineral.
