This has some very good aspects, yet I do believe it has overstayed its welcome a bit, and maybe should've been bottled a wee bit earlier. Regardless, this is far from a dime a dozen dram, and has boatloads of character.
    • Nose
Big notes of pear skin and stewed pear, as well as peach, followed by a touch of brown sugar and banana. Lovely floral as well, with just a hint of almond. Overall though, this has a thin, citrus-y veneer.
    • Taste
Quite oily, arriving with big citrus notes—pickled lemon and tangerine mainly—before moving on to dryer, oak-y flavours. Soft spices, slightly bitter. A touch of leather as well.
    • Finish
Very dry and oak-y. Ending on notes of yellow fruit.

Very nice grain wooded area. A dry, thick beam in an old barn filled with good hay. A zest of vanilla lemon. Gooseberry seeds. Behind, maritime iodine, beach at low tide, heavy and wet sand, some seafood, whelks, razor clams. It's creamy, greedy, on brown sugar and speculoos. Cinnamon, benzoin, ginger. On the palate, extremely successful. vanilla éclair, delicate spices, candied citrus fruits. Point of salt. A little earthy in the background. Juicy white fruits, plum, mirabelle plum. Saffron, cumin, cloves. Nutmeg. Some algae. Very long finish, not explosive but which takes you far. On the tide, brown sugar, Indian spices. Goat's milk, macadamia. Coco.

Nicely balanced, complex, soft, round Bruichladdich.
Special bottling for Bresser and Timmer.
Significant Bourbon Cask influence with vanilla, coconut, toffee, typical light tropical fruits such as pineapple, melon, peach, apricot, mango, papaya.
To the finish, more oak wood flavor influence with a very fine, light bitterness.

Very very nice nose (fruity, floral and delicious). It almost feels like in the Lowlands.

    Character

This 25 years old Laddie was selected by the Dutch importer Bresser & Timmer. No less than 240 bottles of this stuff went to my northerly neighbors.

Ooh, yes, this is a very good nose. Kiwi skins, pears, peach and a hint of mashed banana with light brown sugar. Some nuts and a mild note of woodsmoke. Wonderful.

Good body, mildly oily and spicy. White pepper and baker’s spices that put a prickling layer on a basket full of citrus fruit (think mandarin and grapefruit). The a bitterness as if from grape pith follows. Surprisingly mineral as well, as if I have pebbles in my mouth.

The finish is nicely long and offers mostly yellow fruit, followed by some leather. It leaves the mouth fairly dry, but that’s not a problem.

Very characterful Laddie that survived its 25 years in the cask with grace.

    Pleasant bourbon Bruichladdich.
    • Nose
Floral. Bloomy pear, unripe banana, hay and bitter almonds.
    • Taste
Oily. Citruses, honey, bourbon vanilla, caramel, walnut, oak, nutmeg and white pepper.
    • Finish
      Long, spicy, dry, oaky.

Very nice summer whisky, but lacks the complex and depth of the excellent 1992 vintages bottled by Cadenhead.
    • Nose

      Light smoke, lemon sorbet, grapefruits
    • Taste

Thick and oily on the palate. Loads of citrus fruits, a bit mineral
    • Finish
      87 87
Lingering, on fresh fruits and a bit of leather and the lightest smoke.

Apples, pears and canned peaches. Low fruits. Syrup.
    • Taste
      88 88
A wee bit of oak, but not overwhelming. Same as the nose. Toffee. Can really detect the bourbon influence.
    • Finish
      85 85
Underwhelming finish. It's there and pleasant, but weak.
