Outstanding Invergordon which can definitely stand the test with high profile single malts in my opinion. This is why I love old Grain whisky's so much.
    • Nose
Starts with lots of beeswaxed furniture and stewed fruits of figs and dates. Followed by associations of cooked apples and candied oranges. Overripe bananas and dried coconuts as well. Touch of cake mix and acacia honey. Some glue. Fresh pencil shavings and sawdust at the background
    • Taste
Very creamy and 'fattish' mouth texture with lots of caramel, cinnamon, and molasses. Also big raisins and rum-like sugar cane. Hints of maple syrup. Gingerbread. Dark chocolate later on. If tasted blind I would have guessed this as an American bourbon whiskey.
    • Finish
Medium long with ginger and a little nutmeg. Becomes quite salty at the end. Well-balanced grain whisky.

An old grain can compete with a good malt. Indeed, this Invergordon is proof. If you taste it blind, you will not immediately think of a grain of whiskey.
