Vanilla, malt, good alcohol; Mash, green wood. So far, so inconspicuous. With (a lot) water: Mashier, more vanilla. Freshly weed weeds, some dry oak. Then darkens properly to malt, earth, more oak. In the mouth also inconspicuous in the best sense of the word, vanilla, malt, some wood. Naturally, quickly disappeared.

The whisky is unlikely to be particularly full of character, but I also had much worse OA noses. Thanks to maltaholic for opening and sharing!

This should be the first time I have drunk three years, and it is also the lowest age of Scotch whisky. Come and experience
    • Nose
      85 85
Alcohol strength of 61.1, smells slightly pungent, sweet malt, sweet soup
    • Taste
      84 84
The taste is still a bit spicy. Then turn into the warm sweetness, pumpkin.
    • Finish
      84 84
The ending rhyme is a bit bitter, and the alcohol feel is quite obvious.

    Very aromatic!
Young wood, light vanilla, very sweet notes,
    almost like gummy bears.

    Extremely strong!
    A lot of taste.
First getting a bit spicy, then that strong wood aroma again.
That was a really nice new barrel.
Fine and elegant, albeit incredibly powerful.
    Its aroma remains good.

It's really great and promises a lot of good things from Annandale ...

Interesting, quite tasty smelling malt. Beautiful, varied nose that the palate doesn't like. He can't hide the youth, but he doesn't have to. A little water opens it up a little better. I can only find the smoke if I have read it beforehand that it is inside.

Light, soft on the nose. Vanilla, malt, light floral notes with grain. A slight gummy bear-like sweetness emerges which develops into a subtly fruity unripe pear. I don't see any general fruitiness.
In addition, there is always a hint of bitter herbs. Alcohol is barely noticeable in the nose. Looks very well integrated.
A little water brings out a more intense herbal note and a somewhat clearer and more varied fruit aroma of pineapple and coconut.
    • Taste
      84 84
Quite a sharp start, tingling in the mouth. Some black pepper, slightly sour fruit notes of citrus / grapefruit. The floral and malty aromas seem somewhat dry. Here, too, the alcohol is a bit oppressive, but doesn't come across as ~ 60%. Very nicely integrated.
    • Finish
      83 83
Medium-long finish, dry, vanilla, tart, slightly bitter.

Evaluation with a little water (without water 1-2 points less). I can't detect any smoke.

    First IB of Annandale.
Fantastic whisky! Tasted @ Maltstock 2018.
Needs some water to open up.
