Nice, fresh and fruity dram, with some sweetness. Pretty powerful as well, just a very good to go whisky, not too complex but pleasant.
    • Nose
      87 87
Quite powerful nose, fruity, apples, citrus, fresh. Floral and grassy notes as well. Orange, honey.
    • Taste
      87 87
Powerful, spicy, sour fruity base, like warm lemon. Honey sweetness. Full body, apples.
    • Finish
      86 86
More smooth now, though warming in the belly. Fruity and sweet, a little touch of bitterness, orange zest. Middle long finish.

Very nice dram which dissapointed me in the taste after a good nose. Finish medium long and ok. Very nice but I would not buy one myself over 100 euro.

    Vatting of 1 Cask

I quite like the new look of the Connoisseurs Choice. Stately bottle, nice label with clear information… but what I find strange on this one is the fact that the label states ‘vatting of 1 cask’. Err… that’s not a vatting, now is it? That’s just a single cask bottling, right? Must be me. This refill sherry butt yielded 670 bottles, due to the dilution to a drinking strength of 46%.

Butterscotch and apple sauce! That’s what really jumps out on the nose. Give it some more attention and you’ll find cocoa, honey, candied fennel and raspberry jam. Yoghurt with pineapple. This is very playful.

Nicely oily, good body! The fruity sweetness returns – apples kick in big time – but the malt also get somewhat piquant on all kinds of sherry cask related spices. Cloves in the lead. In the meantime the malt gains some weight and apricots and quince join in, but also some chewing tobacco. It loses a bit of its playfulness, but it’s alright. The malt grows.

The long finish offers again some sweet hazelnut paste, espresso and lots of spices. It dies a sudden, bittersweet death.

Impressive Mannochmore that evolves beautifully and does not disappoint.

I actually think the nose is quite good. In my mouth it is somehow not exciting enough for me. It is certainly not bad now, but also nothing that inspires you.
    • Nose
Sour cherries thickened with custard. Raspberry jam. Some rose water. Hairspray. Fudge. Bitter almond flavor. Bit of floor wax. Juicy and fresh branches.
    • Taste
Pleasant, but somehow boring to start with. Semolina pudding with cherries. Cream candy. Only when the oak sets in is there a bit of movement. Sweet wood notes paired with subtle sharpness.
