Whisky Reviews for La Famiglia Nostra In Hoc Signo Vinces

  1. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Really good schnapps from Scotland from the little hill!
    • Nose
Pleasant sweet smoke, slightly salty, greasy, chocolate, grated lemon peel, maritime, raisins, it looks fat and set, and the distillery, which is also communicated by the flower, comes out clearly, a little oak is added, tobacco, seasoning in Generally, a breeze of cinnamon, quite chocolaty
    • Taste
oily, creamy, sweet, chocolate, spicy smoke, raisins, cinnamon, intense, salt, tingling at the tip of the tongue, syrupy, oak, nice mouthfeel, some mint
    • Finish
still sweet, even when the mouth feel drier, ashy smoke stays on the palate for a long time, nuts, still slightly fruity, grapes, like a sweet white wine

    a perfect thing

with water: the malt loses a bit of strength

Conclusion: mmmmh, what should I think of it? He is delicious, very tasty and damn sweet, too sweet for me. The finish itself is too strong here, the PX has taken complete control and leaves the distillate hardly a chance. I would have taken him out of the barrel earlier.
    • Nose

typical, slightly ashy Ardbeg smoke, plus the very dominant sweetness of PX-Sherry, dark raisins, some nut chocolate, plum jam, clear oak tannins, candied orange, and a dash of lemon juice
    • Taste
      84 84
At the first sip, the PX dominates everything else, only later can the smoke prevail, very oily, overall velvety and very sweet
    • Finish
      85 85
medium to long, first the fat and all-pervading sweetness, when it slowly dies down, the smoke and some maritime flavors come out, behind comes the oak, brings some bitterness and a few spices (subtle clove and nutmeg)

Heavy smoky nose, but also a certain sweetness.
For the percent surprisingly soft in the taste. Some wood, clear campfire but also red fruits. On the palate then clearly the fruits.
    Long warming finish.

With water he loses something the nice start.

Very tasty fabric that goes well without water!
