Whisky Reviews for Glenburgie 1988 GM
4 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.83 points
- High quality Glenburgie, which lacks a bit of power and a little more depth, is very round and smooth, but tasty.
Light hogshead notes, but you still notice the age, quince, pear, lychee, honey and cereals, white grapefruit, linen bags, parchment, resin, banana chips, vanilla, marzipan, fennel
White grapefruit, pineapple chips, fennel, camphor, green apple, toffee, forest honey, damp grass, melon, almonds, pumpkin seeds
Carbonic acid, light beer, papaya, grapefruit bowl, pineapple, medium length
Big notes of tinned peaches dripping in syrup. Basket of juicy red apples with a selection of fresh herbs on the side and even a touch of mint.
Tropical fruits, mango and dry pineapple. The peaches are there with a spoonful of that sugary syrup coating the tongue. A gentle wood spice holds throughout.
Long and delicate with wood spice and white chocolate.
- Bottler's tasting notes:
Aroma: Complex; zesty lime and crushed ginger biscuit aromas layered with pressed green apple. Fresh herbal notes are balanced by a nuanced resinous edge.
Taste: Bursts of ripe tropical fruit open into flavours of warm banana fritters with a drizzle of golden syrup. A gentle herbal edge with hints of white pepper develops.
Finish: Long and multi-layered. Dark chocolate and oak linger.
