Whisky Reviews for Glenglassaugh 1986 GM

with water, the floral notes are better advantage, rose water and sweet almond / marzipan notes show, I would definitely recommend a few drops of water!

Conclusion: And again a hammer painting from 1986, with a long maturation period and good refill Casks are the really good whisky, the younger of this vintage, I find so interesting, but no top-malts. This trumps especially with rather for the distillery unusually floral notes, I like it very well - 92 points

surprisingly floral notes, in addition to the well-known tropical fruits (papaya and passion fruit, less the typical mango from the distillates of the 70s) slightly slightly sour pineapple, citrus aromas (lemon abrasion and grapefruit), also a very interesting kräutrig-spicy note (oak note) is added , along with the floral notes, actually reminds a bit of yellow broom. The alcohol is good, but not perfectly integrated and adds some white pepper. But if you keep it longer in the glass, it calms down more and more, and it comes to a nice sweetness that makes me think of meadow honey.

beautiful approach with great mouthfeel, amazing dark sweetness, tropical fruits, floral, light vanilla note, also here you can see the pepper of the alcohol and the oak

Q: the finish is very long and pleasant, here again the floral notes are noticeably more noticeable, now the grapefruit is stronger and behind it comes the oak, which never becomes too strong or dominating and definitely not bitter

beautiful mature Speysider, which requires sufficient time in the glass and 1-2 drops of water - unfortunately, completely covered in price

a dense yellow fruit basket of tropical fruits such as passion fruit, mango, papaya - citrus fruits behind it - with water (1-2 drops) develop floral notes, soft blossom honey, bourbon vanilla
    • Taste
      89 89
Sweet tropical fruit, on the other hand bitter orange in the mouth - for its ripe age surprisingly alcoholic peppery, while the wooden barrel is indeed noticeable, but not intrusive
    • Finish
      88 88
      fruity, sweet, long, pleasant oakiness

Phew, the very bitter finish, which can already be noted as a mistake, has subtracted 1-2 points, otherwise it looks younger in the mouth than it is, overall still a good malt.
    • Nose
Pear, red apple, peach, cinnamon, dark honey, plum, strawberry, roibo tea, would have bet on refill sherry, strange, toffee, hint of glue, marzipan, pistachio, fig, hint of eucalyptus
    • Taste
Apricot, honeydew melon, then more acid from fresh pear, fig, green apple, lime peel, green tea, almonds, camphor, quince, but full of bourbon here in the mouth, some salt
    • Finish
Hopy, suddenly a bitter taste, tea residues, grapefruit bowl, long

    Bottlers' tasting notes:
    Colour: Dark gold.
Aroma: Bright summer dram; flowering gorse and honeysuckle laced with vibrant lemon and lime aromas. Candied tropical fruit and baked apple add depth.
Taste: Balanced; warming white pepper combines with thick vanilla cream and nutmeg. Flavours of dark chocolate truffle filled with a passion fruit coulis come to the fore; hints of fresh tea leaves linger.
Finish: Charred oak lingers with a chocolate covered turkish delight edge.
