He does not need water, but a few drops do wonders here: he gets much creamier, the vanilla becomes clearer, and a little coconut cream appears. Overall, he is much rounder, complacent and tasty, but the fruit is a bit in the background

Conclusion: beautiful Glen Moray from a good and active barrel. Especially with water is really good. Class All Day Dram, maybe a bit too strong oak in the finish - 87 points

slightly mineral barley / malt flavors, creamy vanilla and some light fruits (especially lemon, but also mirabelle, honeydew melon and slightly sour gooseberries), the sweetness goes to meadow honey (so with light herbaceous notes), the alcohol is well integrated, but is present, overall well-structured and harmonious
    • Taste
      87 87
Good onset, the alcohol is well integrated, honey sweetness, vanilla, toasted cereals, citrus fruits, melon, the oak is present in the taste, but not dominating
    • Finish
      86 86
medium-long, again the well-known lemon, malty cereal notes with earthy impact and behind the oak, which is strong and spicy, but not bitter

I was convinced from the first sip and against the immediate competition (a Tomatin and Highland Park of the same age), the Glen Moray prevailed with ease. For me, who, in any case, is more and more pleased with simple Bourbon-Cask ripening, a real insider's tip and a huge surprise. In addition, with 58 € per bottle probably more than fair prizes - I will put 3-4 of it aside.
    • Nose
Wonderfully sweet and creamy nose with great fruit notes. Here it is clear that this was a very active keg, which could positively influence the Malt in a short time. Very fresh and yet neither alcoholic, nor with young notes in the nose. Instead, many citrus notes, honey and vanilla. The longer the malt lingers in the glass, the creamier and fruity it becomes. Despite the cask strength, water definitely does not need water.
    • Taste
Again - water is superfluous. If I had the problem with some of the Handfilled that the quite tough and somewhat sprittig came along, it shows very mild and creamy, produces a really nice mouthfeel. The 56.3% Vol. Are not even noticeable in the beginning. Otherwise, the flavors of the nose continue here noticeably. The citrus notes now a little less strong, but now a few bright fruit notes are added. Subtle oak in the background, which gives a bit of maturity without drifting away in bitterness. Very sweet, very nice. Simply a really nice Bourbon Cask maturation.
    • Finish
Medium long and with slightly spicy, minimal dry oak notes. But also here a beautiful honey sweetness and not the touch of alcohol or immaturity. With each sip the malt looks more pleasing and sweeter.
