A whole range of attractive nuances. Unfortunately, most of them remain superficial and little interwoven and this Aultmore does not seem to know exactly where it really wants to go in smell and taste. This does not really leave a lasting impression.
    • Nose
      78 78
Sherry sweetness with prunes and melon mixes with chocolate, caramel and coconut shells. Old leather and dry oak wood suggest a much older malt in the nose, and the dusty impressions of dry cardboard or clay in an old barn are more reminiscent of old taste profiles. But acacia leaves, clover, candle wax, margarine and sour grapefruit betray the youth. All in all, the nuances swim around each other too superficially than to be interwoven in an actually old malt.
    • Taste
      74 74
Bitterly heavy and chocolatey, the Aultmore initially burns through the mouth. Oak, melon and lime on the pointed, fresh side meet old shoe leather, flour, cocoa powder and prunes. A bitter-sour-sweet random walk, where you never know exactly where the journey should go.
    • Finish
      69 69
This impression continues unchanged in the finish: leathery, chocolatey, and with an oak cabinet in which there is still an old bunch of parsley and cardboard boxes, plus half a melon. In the end, a sour wine note remains.
