Whisky Reviews for Arran 14-year-old
5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.26 points
- Nice and fruity with a good grip, thanks to 46 atmospheres and no cooling filtering.
Good entry into the Arran range!
- (Lot 17 04 18, bottled 17/04/2018) (tasted 14.05., 18.07. and 30.10.2019)
NOSE: Initially dark chocolate coated marzipan, sweet malt, alcohol. With air and water; apples, apricots, pears, sweet grains. Young, fresh, fruity white wine. (88p)
TASTE: Sweet malt and orchard fruits on the arrival. Then some white pepper and fresh ginger. With air and water; slightly less sweet, more structured, more harmonious, longer. Hints of fresh fennel. (86p)
EXIT: sweet, rounded red and black pepper sauce (but not burning), some dried fruits. With time and water: more peppery. (85p)
Quite a lot going on here:)
TOTAL SCORE: 86 points.

I love the nose, and this is a pretty good dram.
Aniseed candy cane! Eucalyptus, mint, vanilla, and aniseed again. Some flowers but I can't name them, wet grass and the air after a storm.
Sweet arrival but with a twist, like candied orange and ginger, then pepper and ginger, oak, coffee, dark chocolate and a hint of grapefruit. Gets a bit more pepperish over time, with more oak and a touch of nutmeg on the back palate.
Pepper and grapefruit, and that aniseed candy. Medium long
