Tasty - very tasty - completely free of bitter substances - Plv is great - a Bunna in the age is often much weaker and usually less fruity - nevertheless, the malt is somewhat one-dimensional - even if the complaining is very high
    • Nose
      89 89
intense sweet and sour apple jelly, green gooseberry, unripe peach, distant citrus notes - rather citrus peel, lemon, grassy, light glue note, vanilla, cream yoghurt (Zott gooseberry), boiled birch water, fresh ExBc herbal notes - pleasing, round with great alcohol included - you can inhale deeply without fear
    • Taste
      89 89
Sweet-sour apple compote with cloves, cinnamon and vanilla, bitzelnd - fresh herbs - fine, slightly dry oak carpet covers the tongue and cheeks, balsam, some wax, with chili, mint - ginger rosemary sharpness, slightly mineral - slightly salty - long chewable - then he is a bit more varied
    • Finish
      88 88
warm and fruity sweet - noteworthy little bittersweet and quite spicy on the tongue - although the fruits and sweetness are gone

Nose: after about half an hour orange, freshly mown grass, hay, contreaux. Mouth: Also after some time perfectly integrated alcohol, the 46% are very good, he drinks nicely away, dangerous. Then again orange, light vanilla, a hint of passion fruit, then quite quickly a pleasant bitterness. Finish: leaves the tongue furry, very pleasant mouthfeel, light oak, rather short. The fruity sweetness remains on the tip of the tongue while the bitterness lingers on the palate. After 1h in the glass it becomes earthy, malty, slightly bitter and more fermented kumquats. Conclusion: a very, very good whisky, which is possibly € 20 too high priced. I still buy another bottle and recommend it to anyone who has not had enough of their predecessors. The 46% should not scare you. Although 2-3% would be more nice after the second glass. Give it time so that the harsh mini coffin note vanishes.

This Glenturret has a particular stable-like note at first, but beyond that it is a very enjoyable fruit bomb!
    • Nose
      88 88
Starts on horse stable with straw. Some dulce de leche, vanilla and honey with an increasing fruitiness: kiwi, banana, star fruit.
    • Taste
      89 89
Horse stable and dulce de leche like the nose, but a glorious fresh sweet and sour fruitiness takes over immediately: lemon, passion fruit, green apple and gooseberry. Some peppermint and mineral water round it off.
    • Finish
      87 87
Fresh and sweet fruits with some vanilla, soft herbs and a bit mineral.

    A great mature malt.
    • Nose
On the nose sweet but dusty, honey, sea buckthorn, shower sticks, a ripe fruitiness and nice, pleasantly musty oak notes. The whisky smells like almost 30 years of bourbon cask, exactly according to plan. Over time, a surprising touch of sweet mustard.
    • Taste
soft at first, then surprisingly peppery, a small taste explosion of fruity fresh notes. But which are captured by the harsh oak notes
    • Finish
sweet, mint, ripe fruit, tart oak, dark chocolate, a body sweet and sour Mustard note, very salivating and the sample is empty.

Compared to barrel 234, the distinctly darker color stands out (White Wine - Old Gold). Even after 20 minutes of breathing, the nose still has dead trousers (except for the haunched cheese note), but in the mouth the glenturret notes appear again, overlaid by vanilla and various bourbon cask fruits (citrus). A little edgy, the whole thing, dry wood, bergamot. On leaving less tannin-heavy, again bergamot, some ash.

Easier knit, the bergamot touch stands out.

Comparison between Cask 231 (WID: 116557) and Cask 234 (WID: 129473)

The Cask 234 is a nice fruit salad with meadow and exotic fruits on the nose. In addition, a freshness that is reminiscent of mint. Not that much of the wood can be felt. More like tree sap.
The Cask 231 is more reminiscent of apple compote. A little bit of citrus. In addition, vanilla, honey and a little toffee. More of the wood can be seen here, so it looks a little darker and a little more spicy.

The Cask 234 shows a lot of sweetness in the mouth. Sugar beet, plus the fruit again. Now the wood is a bit noticeable and a pleasant tingling occurs. Removes ginger. Towards the finish, the fruits become more sour.
The Cask 231 also has a sweetness. But it's more in the direction of honey. With it cooked local fruit and a few herbs. The wood is much clearer and spicier here. Here, too, there is a tingling sensation with a very slight sharpness.

So these are both great malts that give me pleasure. The Cask 234 inspires with its pronounced fruitiness and the Cask 231 with its balance. So it wasn't a mistake to have bought a bottle from the two of them. Fortunately, I have another one of the Cask 234.

Brilliant! Obviously it was a great keg.
    • Nose

Beeswax, lemon curd, very ripe melon, blooming summer meadow, wood flavoring, smells in the truest sense of the word because of its versatility, something new is always coming, the floral blooming remains.
    • Taste
      90 90
Fruit concentrate, lemon honey, oak, spice, tart and sweet with chewing, elderflower at the end.
    • Finish
      90 90
      Long, refreshing and perfectly balanced.
