    Not my favorite Talisker.
    • Nose
The nose doesn't give away a lot. Less nutty than the 2006 distillers edition. A very light smoke and a warmer creamy vanilla note.
    • Taste
Less body than expected from the creamy nose and the thick tears in the glass. Spicy, pepper and a grape fruit bitterness. Oak tannins and a little orange taste but I miss the Talisker maritime touch in here.
    • Finish
Medium finish, slightly peaty and sweet.

A good annual release, the next 1999 was already worse. 2000 just disappointed. ps: Ralph even put 90 in his whisky review 141. Good annual release, 1999 had worse. 2000 just disappointed. ps: Ralf gave this whisky 90, whisky review 141.

Especially outstanding is the harmony. The smoke does not cover everything, but is wonderfully integrated into sherry sweetness, vanilla, spiciness. Excellent Scottish craftsmanship.
    • Nose
Away from medical smoke with phenolic notes, but mild and wonderfully aromatic, not aggressive and superimposing everything. Then sweetness and fruitiness of sherry and vanilla. A touch of oak flavor. Despite the 45.8% no alcoholic stinging in the nose. In the background intense aromatic dark (baking or dry) fruits.

After the first sip, the vanilla in the nose becomes more dominant.
    • Taste
Away away a tingle on the tongue by the famous chili-catch. The mouth fills with the aromatic smoke. Then spice and a little bitterness of the oak, strong malty paired with a very light sherry sweetness.
    • Finish
The medium long finish is tingling, intense malty and a little dry. Above all there is subtle smoke.

Less to my taste than the 10yo, heavier in the mouth and nose a little wise for me.
    • Nose
Near the 10yo wiser, rounder, a little less iodized, much less peppered, with hints of orange marmalade, or even strawberry jam. Pleasant, but a bit wise.
    • Taste
Powerful, more peppery than expected after the nose. The influence of the Amoroso appears to me less marked, although the bitter oranges are very present after the attack. The texture is also heavier, a bit syrupy.
    • Finish
Medium length, marked by bitter orange.
