nice balance of fruit and spice, with a little more exotic fruit - very good without water drinkable - more on the palate than in the nose - delicious smooth malt with very good PLV [91] - can not keep up with Burgie 1986 GS and Maltbarn unfortunately - costs much less.
    • Nose
      88 88
Muesli, malt, noble mold, cooked meat, roux, with some time or more distance to the glass, beeswax, orange, fresh lemon and mint, sweetish flowers, refreshing nose
    • Taste
      91 91
sweet and oily - very fruity, light spicy oak - tree sap, sawdust of green wood, ginger, pepper, sweet and sour pineapple yoghurt with chili, star fruit, orange, grapefruit skin - beautifully balanced, full-bodied - long chewable
    • Finish
      87 87
warming, vanilla cream, tree sap, tobacco - delicate bittertöne - runs dry and spicy

This Glenburgie is delicious especially in the nose and as expected with the age also quite complex. I particularly like how it changes in the glass and in the mouth again and again. Only for my taste too strong sharpness has kept me from an even better rating.
    • Nose
      90 90
First, dense, sweet and spicy without the flavors being further deciphered. With some time in the glass, I first find yellow fruit and spicy, slightly musty wood, the smell then develops into sweet pastries, vanilla, honey, some beeswax and curd soap, to a slightly sour touch as from a sweet white wine, the spicy Flavors are present all the time and are now complemented by some dusty, maybe old paper. All in all very diverse, you have a lot to discover and can spend a lot of time with this dram.
    • Taste
      86 86
A strong spiciness - pepper and chili - initially dominates any taste, then it is sweeter but also slightly sour. I find again the yellow fruits, which move however rather in the direction of dried fruit. Then the Glenburgie changes again and becomes clearly bitter and creamy. Espresso and spicy oak wood dominate.
    • Finish
      88 88
The quite long finish is characterized by the bitter espresso with plenty of crema and a hint of vanilla. In the creamy mouthfeel finally mixes again the chili sharpness, before the Glenburgie finally adopted.

Sweet, fruity, grainy but a very good nose. A little bit dusty, as if it shouts for a drop of water to open up. Quite a pleasing hint of wood in here too.
With water it clears up quite a bit. The fruitiness and a little bit of spices are showing up.
    • Taste
      88 88
Sweet and powerfull. It needs a tender bit of water. In the background there are quite some malt notes.
With water: more oily and fatty. Quite a touch of honey but the malt notes remain.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long length. Loads of malt notes. Some sawdust and a touch of the fruity notes from the nose.
With water: it all gets sweeter and the malt notes are more to the background.

Only for my taste too strong sharpness has kept me from an even better rating. But also this sample was a worthy passenger in the 88PlusBus! Overall very good (88 P)!

Surprisingly strong and tingling for the 46%, a strong spiciness - pepper and chili initially dominates any taste, then it is sweeter but also slightly sour. If the nose would be a bit less shy it could easily reach 90, love these exotic type of profiles

    Nose:

Just leave the whisky. Then the different scents and aromas come up.
Beautiful in balance and a lot to discover in the fragrance.

    Taste:

Delicious fresh and fruity. The honey, vanilla and bourbon flavor fit very well here.

The finish is long, fresh and spicy.

    A nice whisky!
