The aroma is meaningful, rich in nuances, gradual. The taste plays on another wave: intense and assertive. Aftertaste also does not add the desired harmony. It's still a cool Ledaig, but unbalanced properly.

2021/01/26 - I've emptied my bottle and I find the malt even better than before. Maybe it is just because I don't have another one of this.
Excellent combination of peat and red wine barrel. The nose is one of the best Ledaig's I had. The taste is matching the nose while the finish is a little bit behind, maybe due to the young age of this malt.
I will look for another bottle, even though the taxes from UK towards EU are making the auction sites quite inaccessible.

The nose is the best on the whole malt - here meet the expected red berries with great Ledaig smoke.

Nevertheless, one must say that these red berries are barely noticeable in the key and finish. The smoke, the maritime freshness and also vanilla notes including sweetness take the lead.

More and more shows that the Ledaig character can hardly be tamed by red wine finishes.

(Maybe that's the reason why there are so few red wine finishes of Laphroaig - even there it would not have been done with a 10 month finish ...)

let it breathe and it is generous in giving out bold flavors, so rich it gives a mouth-coating aftertaste that masks any weakness in it, which is not many to begin with
    • Nose
rich red wine, sweet cake, earthy, copper / minerals, salt, ledaig grassiness / strong tea, tobacco
    • Taste
rich red wine, earthy, marzipan, hint of sour, peat, grass/tea, minerals, coffee
    • Finish
medium-long, rich wine, earth, peat, youthful alcohol, grains
