It is powerful yet elegant, strong yet balanced.
Opens with classic old sherry notes. It's manuka honey with brown sugar, crème brûlée still sizzling away. Seville oranges, candied orange and small hints of orange bitters (get the Old Fashioned ready). There is a soft smoky quality in the background with charred wood aromas adding another classic touch.
With time peppery notes also begin to creep in, plenty of peppercorn.
Quite sweet on arrival with a slight sour note, it's blackberries, its brambles, its blackcurrant. The orange notes are there, bitter oranges with a sweet candied edge. Oily and powerful, plenty of life in this old boy. Becomes more sherry-like in the later parts.
Medium-long but elegant, it has the orange notes, it has some of the berries and an abundance of the manuka honey. Soft smoke and a lingering soft oak.
