Don’t add water to this one, it will spoil the fun.
Oeh that is a good nose!! Initially it appears to be a grain-like whisky, but this fades away quite fast. Typical refill nose, but also very heavy, full flavored and intense. Sweet and savory. Herbs, spices and Aged wood all over the place. On the nose my refill preference is being proved again. There is a very pleasant eucalyptic freshness inhere. Dried grass, macaroons and citrus fruit peel like lemon and orange. Over time it gets more fruity. Apple juice and pineapple.
Very soft, gentle and well rounded arrival. A tad bitterness as is not unusual with refill casks but pleasant. Again herbs and spices dominate the palate. But later on warm apple sauce, and citrus liquor also join in. Normally refills can be a little tricky to keep in your mouth for to long, but with this one it is a pleasure to keep it as long as you’d like.. This is very wel drinkable at 48.4%
Medium-long. A warm, pleasant, soft, round and silky finish. Aged wood, dried grass, mint.
The balance and complexity in this dram are quite amazing. It is very multidimensional. More than I am used to with a refill cask. This is without the shadow of a doubt ‘buy a full bottle’ material and therefore it goes straight to my wishlist!
